Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II Discontinued?

It appears the Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II has been discontinued, at least in Japan.

There doesn’t seem to be a replacement on the horizon. Has Canon discontinued the PowerShot G9 X line? Maybe.

Maybe the competition from smartphones has become too much for Canon to go on producing fixed lens cameras with an 1″ sensor.

Any ideas…?
