Alerting All Outdoor And Nature Enthusiasts: Canon Announces Two New Entry-Level Binoculars Featuring Lens-Shift Image Stabilization

With Lens-Shift Image Stabilization, Compact, Lightweight Bodies and Affordable Pricing, the Canon 8×20 IS and 10×20 IS Binoculars are the Triple-Threat Tools Necessary for all Viewing Endeavors

MELVILLE, NY, September 19, 2019 – What do birdwatching, hiking, camping and sports watching all have in common? They all need a trusted and high-quality set of binoculars to view and bask in the full experience. Continuing to elevate viewing through impressive optics, Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced two new, lightweight entry-level Image-Stabilized Binoculars with an 8×20 IS and 10×20 IS. Specifically, the 8×20 IS binoculars are the world’s lightest binoculars with image stabilization*. These new entry-level models also feature Lens Shift Image Stabilization (IS) technology, a technology that allows users to see an even sharper image by moving the IS lens to help correct shaking from handholding.

“One of the secrets to Canon’s success is the company’s dedication to its strong legacy of optical brilliance and imaging technologies that match the various needs of our customers for today and into the future,” said Kazuto Ogawa, president and COO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “These new binoculars embody those same principles, enhancing the viewing experiences for our customers, while offering the familiarity and quality they trust in Canon optics.”

The new binocular models both feature Shift Image Stabilization, a feature frequently found in Canon digital cameras and camcorders. This technology incorporates a microcomputer and improved gyro performance that assists in canceling out the effects of user-shake or movement, resulting in an enhanced detailed view of objects. Reducing shake also lessens fatigue when viewing for long periods of time, making them comfortable to use at concerts and events. Canon is offering two models with different zoom powers (8x and 10x) which can handle various situations for a wide range of users.

Canon Announces The Development Of An Innovative Photography Solution For Live Events

Solution will Enable Remote Operation of Canon’s Interchangeable Lens Cameras in Inaccessible Locations for Photographers

MELVILLE, NY, September 19, 2019 – Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced that its parent company, Canon Inc., is developing a remote-control solution that will allow for operation of the company’s interchangeable-lens cameras. Remote operation of cameras has been growing in popularity among photo agencies and media outlets, as seen in today’s coverage of global sporting and news events. With that growth in mind, Canon is excited to develop a powerful solution that reflects years of testing and feedback from the organizations that will benefit the most from this device.

The solution, currently under development, utilizes a system that enables the camera’s optical axis to be perpendicular to the device’s axis of revolution. This intuitive alignment will provide users with operation capabilities that feel similar to handheld or tripod shooting. The hardware and software solution allows a photographer to control multiple cameras at once, with the ability to control multiple remote-control or static remote systems from a single computer. Photographers will be able to operate each device to pan, tilt or rotate the camera and zoom the lens, and images can transmit via a network connection to a centralized location, a feature that will prove to be very useful for news outlets and agencies.

The new solution will allow for image capture from a variety of angles and viewpoints that might not have not been possible through conventional shooting methods. Moving forward, Canon’s goal is to create a system suited for a wide range of shooting needs that go beyond live sporting and news events, including e-commerce, product photography and more. By developing these types of innovative image-capture solutions, Canon is helping to provide new perspectives to the events that shape the world around us.

Nikon, Leica And Olympus Will Not Attend Photokina 2020

Photokina 2020 coronavirus

Well, this comes as a surprise. A big player like Nikon not going to attend Photokina 2020?

That’s what a Photokina 2020 press release unveils (emphasis mine):

“We look forward to strong demand and applications from both the new and the classic segments of companies like Canon, CEWE, GoPro, Sony, Panasonic, Kodak Alaris, Sigma, Tamron, Carl Zeiss, Hasselblad, Hahnemühle, Arri, Rode Mikrophones, DJI and Insta360”, says Christoph Werner, Vice President of Koelnmesse. These are contrasted by cancellations, including from Leica, Nikon and Olympus.

It’s not just Nikon to let us puzzled. Leica is a traditional German camera manufacturer and maybe it is even weirder that they do not partecipate to Photokina 2020. Wonder if there are more, untold reasons that motivated Nikon, Leica and Olympus to not attend Photokina 2020.
