Reviewed.com posted their review of the EOS 7D Mark II. The 7D Mark II got a score of 91, and “is better than 94% of the DSLRs” Reviewed has tested. From the conclusion:

Altogether the 7D Mark II is one of the more impressive APS-C DSLRs we’ve seen yet. It’s extremely fast for a camera that has an optical viewfinder, takes great photos, and has one of the most impressive autofocus systems available. There are mirrorless cameras that are just as fast (if not faster) and have better dynamic range, but the 7D Mark II trounces those cameras in low light, where it barely misses a beat.

[the EOS 7D Mark II] is clearly geared toward advanced shooters who want a camera that is fast, has pro-level autofocus performance and control, and is customizable to the shooter’s needs. It’s also durable enough to stand up to the rigors of daily use, with a shutter that can withstand 200,000 cycles and some of the most impressive weather-sealing around.

For the money there are faster cameras, there are cameras that are better at shooting video, and there are cameras that have more features, but the 7D Mark II is a compelling all-around package that finally feels like a complete effort from the market leader; this is what you get when Canon doesn’t hold anything back.

When you think action camera you think small gear like GoPro’s Hero cameras, right? Think again. There is people wanting to try the EOS 7D Mark II’s auto-focus while skydiving with the DSLR mounted on the helmet (found at Action Camera Rumors).

Christian Anderl and Wolfgang Lienbacher, both Austria based photographers, together with the Red Bull Skydive Team, got the point:

The setting is challenging: a dance performance with fast moving subjects.The video shows what you see through the viewfinder: the scene, settings, and lightning fast little black AF points following the subjects. Impressing!

Tony Northrup produced a 40 minutes video where he introduces the new Canon EOS 7D Mark II.

Mr. Northrup expresses his thoughts also about the recent DxOMark figures for the EOS 7D Mark II sensor. As all Canon sensors, the 7D Mark II sensor scored rather mediocrely. On the other hand this measure has little to do with real life performance (1 | 2 | 3).

DxOMark tested the sensor performance of the Canon EOS 7D Mark II.

In the conclusion they write:

On paper, the Canon EOS 7D Mk II looks to be a solid choice for sports and action photographers, but its sensor performance is somewhat behind the best in class, at least at low ISOs. Relatively high noise, less discriminating color, and below-average DR at base ISO all continue to hold back Canon sensors against rivals, but that’s not the case at higher sensitivities. In fact, when light levels fall, the Canon EOS 7D Mk II performs competitively, even surpassing rivals slightly. If Canon could only address performance at base and low ISO, the EOS 7D Mk II would make a thoroughly convincing all-round choice, but in this category the Sony A77 II looks to be the more compelling option.
