Canon EOS M10 Review (simplified user experience, good image quality, Imaging Resource)

Eos M20

Canon EOS M10: B&H Photo, Adorama, Amazon USA, Amazon Canada, Canon Canada, Canon USA

Imaging Resource posted their review of Canon’s entry-level mirrorless camera, the EOS M10.

From the conclusion:

The Canon EOS M10 is a good option for beginning photographers looking for their first interchangeable lens camera. Its mirrorless design allows it to be quite compact while also utilizing relatively small lenses. The camera’s straightforward, simple design may be a negative for some photographers, but we think that it should be considered a plus for beginners who might otherwise be overwhelmed by some of the options on the market. Given the M10’s excellent use of its touchscreen display, we consider it a very user-friendly camera. Read the review…

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III review (best f/2.8 wide-angle zoom available, LensRentals)

  • Three Aspherical & Two UD Elements
  • Subwavelength & Air Sphere Coatings
  • Ring-Type Ultrasonic Motor AF System

  • Fluorine Coating on Exposed Elements
  • Dust- and Water-Resistant Construction
  • Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm

LensRentals felt the pulse of the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III

From a resolution standpoint, the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8  III is the best f/2.8 wide-angle zoom available. You might be better served with the f/4 IS and some money in your pocket. There are also some very good wide-angle f/2.8 zooms available from third party manufacturers that are a lot less expensive and might offer more bang-for-the-buck. But if your style of photography needs the highest resolution you can get with a wide-angle lens, well this is it.

Another point in favour of this professional lens:

[…] sample variation for wide-angle zooms is usually pretty significant, but the new EF 16-35mm f/2.8 III keeps that under pretty good control

All this goodness comes at a price, it’s $2,199.

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV review (one of the best on the market, Photography Blog)

  • 7 fps Shooting; CF & SD Card Slots
  • Built-In GPS and Wi-Fi with NFC

Photography Blog posted their comprehensive Canon EOS 5D Mark IV review. The EOS 5D Mark IV gets 4.5 stars out of 5, it’s called one of the best DSLRs on the market. Agree.

From the conclusion:

While the new 30 megapixel sensor doesn’t sound like a massive improvement on the 5D Mark III’s 22 megapixels, in conjunction with the Digic 6 processor it results in higher resolution and still very impressive low-light performance, with an almost noise-free range of ISO 50-6400 and perfectly usable 12800 and 25600 settings. The benefits of the headline-grabbing Dual Pixel RAW file format are a lot more subtle, so much so that for some users it won’t be worth the significant downsides of turning it on.

Still and video image quality, burst shooting speed, autofocusing, connectivity and live view have all been greatly improved, making the EOS 5D Mark IV a very well-rounded DSLR camera that’s a veritable pleasure to shoot with. While the industry has placed a lot of emphasis in recent years on smaller, lighter mirrorless cameras, there’s still a lot to be said for shooting with a “traditional” DSLR, and in that respect the 5D Mark IV is certainly one of the best on the market. Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III Review (outstanding lens, Photography Blog)

EF 16-35mm F/2.8L III

  • Ring-Type Ultrasonic Motor AF System

  • Fluorine Coating on Exposed Elements
  • Dust- and Water-Resistant Construction
  • Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm

The folks at Photography Blog published their comprehensive review of the new Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III, a lens that many photographers would like to have in their bag.

From the conclusion:

The new Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM is an outstanding but also very expensive ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that will appeal most to landscape, reportage and wedding photographers looking for a well-built, weather-proof optic with the main advantage of a fast and constant f/2.8 aperture for low-light hand-held work.

[…] Image quality is quite simply fantastic. Chromatic aberrations are almost completely absent, bokeh is impressive despite the wide-angle nature of the lens, and the Subwavelength and an Air Sphere coatings successfully prevent contrast loss attributable to flare. The only real optical issues are some obvious vignetting and barrel distortion at the 16mm wide-angle focal length, and a slight lack of sharpness when shooting wide-open at f/2.8 at the 28mm and 35mm focal lengths. Sample images shot with the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III mounted on a EOS 5D Mark IV can be viewed here. Unfortunately the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III is not your typical budget option, this is a professional lens selling at $2,199.
