Canon Rumor: No More EOS R5 Mark II In 2023 But A huge firmware update Instead
It seems we will not see the Canon EOS R5 Mark II in 2023. Instead we will see a massive firmware update for the EOS R5, says the same source.
For some time it was suggested with some confidence that Canon might announce the EOS R5 Mark II in 2023. Nope, says the source, and adds that we will see a huge firmware update for the EOS R5, so that it stays “viable through 2023“.
The rumored firmware update for the EOS R5 might bring the following:
- Lens breathing correction
- Pre-shooting buffer
- Removal of 30 minutes record limit
- Vehicle tracking AF mode (bikes, trains & planes)
- Additional tracking for more animals
- More new and unspecified features
As the most attentive readers might already have seen, the features in the list above are all already implemented in the EOS R6 Mark II.
Not surprisingly, the EOS R5 Mark II is now rumored for 2024, as is the EOS R1, after years of “imminent release” rumors.
Stay tuned…
