Canon RF-S 11-22mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM To Be Announced Before Summer 2023?

EF-M 11-22mm F/4-5.6 IS STM

New year, new Canon rumor. A new RF mount lens might be on the horizon. Canon might be set to announce the Canon RF-S 11-22mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM lens in the first quarter 2023, a rumor suggests.

Say the source of the rumor:

Canon will likely release at least three RF-S lenses in 2023, a couple of them will likely be based on their EF-M counterparts.

One of the lenses we’re told that will launch in the first half of 2023 is an RF-S 11-22mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM. The EF-M version was a favourite of EOS M shooters since it was launched. It really is a very good lens, especially at its price point.

We think the rumor might be reliable. Time will tell. I own the EF-M 11-22mm and can confirm it is a little gem of a lens. If the RF mount version follows its footsteps, then it might have the following specs:

  • 18-35mm (35mm Equivalent)
  • Aperture Range: f/4.5-32
  • Two Aspherical Elements, One UD Element
  • Dynamic Image Stabilization
  • Spectra Coatings
  • Built-In Stepping Motor

Stay tuned…

A new Canon rumor concerning RF-mount lenses. Three of them, all primes.

Latest murmuring has it that Canon might release three wide angle “L” lenses for the RF-mount. Says the source of the rumor (emphasis mine):

[…] Canon actually plans to launch 3 wide angle L prime lenses from the RF mount in the first half of 2023. One of the lenses will be the RF 35mm f/1.2L (or f/1.4) and an RF 24mm f/1.4L USM. The third lens is unknown at this time, though [it might be] an L 28mm prime lens

The RF 35mm f/1.2L is rumored since a long time. No surprise since it is a lens Canon will release for sure, sooner or later. All three lenses will for sure be announced sooner or later. Maybe it will happen in the first half of 2023.

Stay tuned.

YONGNUO Might Release Lenses For Canon Cameras, Rumor Has It

YONGNUO

Interesting Canon rumor coming from Asia. YONGNUO might be set to soon release a lens for the Canon RF mount.

An image shared by CameraBeta shows EXIF information suggesting a YN35mm F1.4 UWM was used on a Canon EOS R6 body (see image above). Interesting.

While this would be one of the very few third party lens for the RF mount. However, if it is an autofocus lens (it seems) then the question is how Yongnuo has solved the patent infringement issues Canon already raised with Viltrox.

Let me know what your thoughts are.

And Yet Another Canon Rumor: Camera Between R7 And R10 Coming?

Here is another wave in the recent flood of Canon rumors. Canon might be set to announced an EOS R model that sits between the EOS R7 and EOS R10.

Quoting the source (emphasis mine):

[…] latest bit of information […] is a new camera body coming that will fit between the Canon EOS R7 and Canon EOS R10 in the lineup from a price standpoint. We don’t think that this is going to be a similar product placement as we had seen with DSLRs and the EOS 77D. We think that the EOS R8/EOS R9 (guessing on the name) will have a different form factor and could possibly see the omission of a built-in viewfinder, but those are just guesses at this point.

“EOS R8” is very unlikely in our opinion. Time will tell. All Canon rumors are listed here.
