Update – Canon’s upcoming Powershot camera
This was a big blunder. The camera we are talking about is the Powershot G3 X, Canon announced the development back in February. Apologies…

New PowerShot Digital Compact Camera Under Development
Featuring large image sensor, high zoom capability and compact bodyCanon is developing a new premium digital compact camera that combines the merits of both large image sensor and high-magnification optical zoom lens in response to the demands from users looking for high quality high zoom performance. Offering both convenience from a compact body and excellent super telephoto performance, this camera is perfect for everyday or travel shooting in high quality.
Now, the camera appeared again in a banner on Canon UK and NL sites. In the picture below, it’s the cam on the left.
The new Powershot appears to have a more massive body than its siblings, with DSLR-like grip, and a fair amount of control dials. It definitely is the enthusiasts-oriented Powershot camera Canon mentioned. The question is: when will it be announced? NAB 2015 isn’t the best stage for a consumer product announcement. On the other hand, the camera shown in the picture is neither blacked out nor does it look like an early prototype.
