Abraham Joffe of Untitled Film Works released this 3-minute video showing photographer Denis Glennon field testing the new Canon 5DS R by capturing wild animals in Botswana, Africa (he was likely using the first 5DS R to hit African soil).

Canon PowerShot G3 X Review – Photography Blog

The new Canon PowerShot G3 X is a solid super-zoom camera for enthusiast photographers, offering a wealth of options for shooting both stills and video, excellent image quality, speedy auto-focusing, intuitive and configurable handling, and solid construction. Unfortunately, it’s rather ham-strung by the strange omission of a built-in viewfinder – trying to hold the Canon PowerShot G3 X at arm’s length whilst using the full extent of the 25x zoom lens results in too many misses due to camerashake.

Canon EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM and EF 35mm f/1.4L Mark II coming very soon [CW4]

novocert_canon_ef35f14ii_ef-m15-45-2

Russian certification authority Novocert has registration document for two Canon lenses: the already rumored EF 35mm f/1.4L Mark II, and a lens for the EOS M system, the EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM. The latter never surfaced in a rumor.

The EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM could be Canon’s next kit lens for the EOS M series cameras. Back in May we had a rumor pointing in this direction, though an 18-55mm IS STM Mark II lens was then mentioned as the new kit lens. However, I would be surprised if the EF-M 15-45mm is not going to be the next EOS M kit lens. Though, an f/6.3 at the telephoto end is a bit disappointing.

The announcement of both lenses should be matter of weeks. In the past, states Digicame Info, the event of a registration at a certification authority usually anticipated the announcement for a few weeks. So, most likely these are the two lenses that will be announced August 14, 2015.

Canon patent for lubricating body cap

2015_121747_fig01

The Canon patent describes a body cap that keeps the lens mount of a DSLR lubricated. To be honest I can’t grab the utility of this, except that it could concern the electric contacts (keeping them clean) . Since we get this patent literature translated by a machine, I am never sure the translated words are any helpful.
