Canon EOS 7D & Magic Lantern RAW – Sample Footage

Vimeo user Florian posted the first sample footage shot with an [shoplink 337]Canon EOS 7D[/shoplink] and the Magic Lantern RAW hack. He writes:

As you know, the Canon 7D is now capable of shooting raw video thanks to Magic Lantern.
I’ve downloaded Pelican’s nightly build and install it on my Canon 7D. I did some quick tests in my garden with silent pics burst. For now, I didn’t get any pink frames. I can get 40-41 pictures (a little less than 2 seconds).
DNG are 1736 x 1156 pixels. Stunning quality compared to H.264…
But a little of moire (as usual with the 7D).
Congratulations to Magic Lantern !!! It’s totally amazing what they can do.

Rumor: No Canon EOS 7D Mark II Before Summer 2014

Another rumor suggesting what we all were starting to think: Canon will not announce yet release the Canon EOS 7D Mark II in 2013. Canon Rumors writes that the successor of the [shoplink 337]Canon EOS 7D[/shoplink] is scheduled for the second half of 2014. The EOS 7D II is said to feature the same 20MP sensor of the [shoplink 14246]Canon EOS 70D[/shoplink] (with Dual Pixel CMOS AF), a GPS unit but no WiFi. However, it appears that Canon is still deciding about the spec of the 7D II, and that they will first see how successful the 70D will be. Good point, since the 70D has all it needs to be a best seller. Finally, there should be an entr-level DSLR too in the first half 2014. No news about the fabled high resolution DSLR.

Good to know that we could soon have Magic Lantern’s RAW hack on the EOS 7D :)
