Canon EF-M 11-22mm IS STM Image Leaked, Announcement Soon (next EOS M coming?)

Canon EF-M 11-22mm

Digicame-info (translated) posted a leaked image of the EF-M 11-22mm IS STM lens for the [shoplink 6091]EOS M system[/shoplink]. The image comes from a trusted source.

The lens is very compact. For the time being it is not clear if the lens will extend or not. Word is about a “lens storage mechanism”. The lens could be announced very soon.

As far as I know the announcement of the next EOS M system shouldn’t be that far away.

Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS 1.4x Available For Rent At Borrow Lenses

 EF 200-400mm
Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS Extender 1.4x

Want to try out Canon’s new super-telephoto-zoom but can’t afford to pay the price of a small car (>$11.000)? You can rent the lens at Borrow Lenses (click here). Better to hurry up since you have to reserve the lens.

I featured a couple of reviews of the EF 200-400mm f/4L IS 1.4x:

Canon Explorer of Light Peter Read Miller had the opportunity to test the lens at the London Olympics 2012 (source: pixsylated). He says:

So, how does the lens perform? The copy I had was fantastic. I’m not an empirical tester—I just shot the lens daily at the London Olympics for 16 days on my EOS-1D X bodies, almost always wide open and usually under challenging lighting conditions. I think without the extender the sharpness is a match for any Canon prime telephoto and with the extender the performance is as good or better than any prime lens plus extender combination I have ever used. The auto-focus speed on the 1D X body is on a par with the latest Series II lenses. The image-stabilization allowed me to make a sharp photo of the Queen during the opening ceremonies at a shutter speed of 1/100 of a second at 560mm on a monopod.

Canon PowerShot SX50 HS Review (Imaging Resource)

PowerShot SX50

Canon PowerShot SX50 HS
[shopcountry 10222]

Imaging resource reviewed the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS. The cam features a whooping 50x zoom, equivalent to 24-1200mm, and Canon’s Intelligent IS optical image stabilization technology. The reviewer

was extremely happy with the quality of the 12-megapixel images I took with the Canon SX50 HS, especially those I captured at ISO 400 and below. For the most part, the photos — even at full 50x zoom — were pretty sharp and dynamic.

In the conclusion they write:

In most ways the Canon SX50 HS proved to be the long-reaching camera I had longed to use for capturing images of Spring Training baseball. And I strongly suspect it would be as perfect for shooting daytime travel, street, architecture, landscape and wildlife photography as it was for capturing the sights and action of a sunny ballgame.

It was also an equally impressive travel companion in terms of its size, simplicity to use and shooting flexibility. […] The Canon SX50 HS proved to have ample image quality and advanced features to make it a great second or travel camera for serious shooters, and plenty of flexibility to make it a great primary camera for beginning and casual photographers.

The review comes with many sample shots, test charts etc. Specifications (taken from Adorama’s product page):
