DPReview posted their Canon EOS M200 review. The EOS M200, your “new pocket-friendly companion“.

From the conclusion:

The Canon EOS M200 is, overall, a good camera. It’s one that I believe, as with its predecessor, is a bit more than the sum of its parts. For those that are more novice photographers, the M200 is a capable and affordable option that’s fun to use and churns out nice photographs without much fuss. Thanks to slower burst speeds and slightly hunty autofocus, it won’t be the best option for capturing fast-moving or unpredictable subjects like animated children: Sony’s pricier a6100 is a better bet there for some family photography.

If you’re looking for a small, casual camera that won’t intimidate either you or your friends, one with with good wireless connectivity for easy sharing, and you might even be interested in adding an additional lens or two down the line, the EOS M200 is a good bet.

Some new Canon EOS-1D X Mark III rumors surfaced on the web after Canon’s development announcement.

So far some of the previously rumored features have proven to be unreliable (6K video, 30fps, IBIS). Some people in the industry thinks Canon did the development announcement for the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III to counter the speculations of the rumor mills.

The latest rumored specifications for the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III are of the vague nature, and for that reason might be even correct:

  • The battery life is nothing short of amazing, much better than the EOS-1D X Mark II
  • The silent shutter mode in liveview is absolutely silent
  • The eye AF works incredibly well (via liveview we are assuming)
  • The AF-ON trackpad is so innovative, works fast and it very precise. In the source’s words, “it’s a real revolution. Nobody will be using the old joystick”

It’s plausible that Canon might introduce these features on their next full frame flagship.

We now know for sure that the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III will be released early 2020, most likely in February.

Canon is set to shut down the company’s photo storage and sharing site Irista.

The following email was send to registered users:

IT’S TIME TO SAY FAREWELL TO IRISTA
Sadly, we’ve decided to close down Irista. We would like to thank you for using it over the years; we hope that you’ve enjoyed the service.
Your account will remain unaffected until 31 January 2020, when it will close. On this date, your details and data will be deleted. Before this happens, you can download your photos and videos by following these three simple steps*:
1. Sign in to your Irista Account using your Canon ID,
2. Click the link next to “Download All Photos & Videos”,
3. Download ZIP files to your computer

Two things to note:

  1. Tags, photo ratings, titles, and albums can not be exported
  2. Canon provides contacted users with a promo code to get two months of cloud storage through Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom
