Canon EOS 6D Mark II coming after NAB 2017? [CW2]

The new rumored announcement date for the Canon EOS 6D Mark II now is Q2 2017. Until a few days ago, anyone was pointing to Q1 for the release. A Q2 2017 release could mean NAB 2017 (in April).

In the last days we got a bunch of Canon EOS 6D Mark II rumors. Together with the other features that are rumored, these are:

  • 24MP or 25MP sensor
  • Dual Pixel AF
  • 1080p/60
  • Dual SD card slots
  • NO 4K
  • Full tilt-able display
  • Touchscreen
  • NFC
  • Wifi
  • GPS
  • New AF system (19 points?)
  • Slightly smaller and lighter
  • Announcement expected Q1 2017

Dual Pixel AF, touchscreen, 1080p/60fps, full tilt-able display, a new AF system, and that the EOS 6D Mark II will not have 4K are all specs leaked here on Canon Watch. We got word the EOS 6D Mark II will have a 24MP sensor, others are suggesting a 25MP sensor.

However, it is way to early for reliable rumors about the Canon EOS 6D Mark II. The only hints we have is the specification list above, and we believe there will be an announcement in 2017. I posted the rumoured specifications because all in all they are plausible. I am pretty sure the announcement date will change a few more times.. So, take anything with a grain of salt. Rumors are always good for traffic, and we will get a lot of low credibility stuff before the reliable rumors emerge.

Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Review – ephotozine

Although lacking in some areas of the performance, this lens is actually a lot of fun to use. The results are bright and crisp at wide to mid apertures, although admittedly falling off quite dramatically at longer lengths and smaller apertures.

It is a great travel lens and has the benefit of the add-on Power Zoom Adapter, which may well be an exciting development for videographers.

My obsession with chasing the fog on Mount Tamalpais over the last 18 months comes together in this 90 second timelapse video. One and half years of foggy sunrises and sunsets just north of San Francisco, CA. When the conditions were right, I would be up and out the door by 4:00 in the morning to make the 45-minute drive and 30-minute hike up Mt. Tam to be setup for the sunrise. In the evenings I would race home from work, grab my gear, and head back out, often running down the trail with a backpack full of gear to be just in time for sunset.

Gear used:
Canon DSLR’s (5DMkIII and 7D), Canon lenses (16-35, 28-135, 70-200), Vanguard tripod. Custom build PC, Lightroom CC, After Effects CC and Premiere CC.

So far Canon featured focus peaking only on the EOS M5 and EOS M3. Hopefully this patent means Canon will feature focus peaking on more cameras in the future.

We have another bit of information about the Canon EOS 6D Mark II, after the rumors of the last days (here and here).

The Canon EOS 6D Mark II is said to feature 1080p video at 60fps. So far we have the following, suggested spec list for the EOS 6D Mark II (based on latest rumors and what we have been told previously):

  • 24MP or 25MP sensor

  • 1080p/60
  • Dual SD card slots
  • NO 4K
  • Full tilt-able display

As posted before, I have been told the Canon EOS 6D Mark II will not have 4k video. All this 4k-hysteria is getting weird. It’s the first time we write about a feature a future camera will not have.
