Sigma Might Release Four Lenses For The Canon EOS R (tell Us Which One You’d Like To See First)

Good news for Canon EOS R fans.

In a few weeks Sigma will for the first time announce lenses designed specifically for the Sony Full Frame Mirrorless system. These:

  • 35mm f/1.2
  • 45mm f/2.8
  • 12-24mm f/2.8
  • 24-70mm f/2.8

That’s not the entire story. We have been told (thanks) that Sigma will release these lenses also natively for the Canon EOS R full frame mirrorless system. The source couldn’t tell a timeframe for the RF mount versions. All we know is that they will be released “sometimes later” (i.e. after the release of the Sony versions).

That’s really good news. Sigma makes outstanding lenses and releasing those lenses for the EOS R system will be a great contribution to its lens ecosystem.

Which lens would you like Sigma to release first for the Canon EOS R?
