Photography Blog reviewed Canon’s latest APS-C DSLR, the Canon EOS 90D.

They gave the EOS 90D a rating of 4.5/5. From their conclusion:

The Canon EOS 90D is a nice camera to use if you like the traditional styling and handling of a DSLR, while if you’re already equipped with a range of EF/EF-S lenses then it makes a lot of sense to make the 90D your next purchase.

In some ways it’s good to see that Canon still cares about its DSLR-audience, but we have suspicions that the 90D could be one of the last DSLRs to be announced by the camera giant, with the future being tilted towards more favourably towards mirrorless as time goes in. If you’re a traditionalist this could be one of your last chances to get hold of a DSLR as we know them today.

[…] the Canon EOS 90D is a great option for those who like DSLRs. Being a good all-rounder it’s good for those who shoot lots of different kinds of subject. It does well at sports and action, as well as being suited to landscape, portraits and pretty much any kind of subject you care to shoot. It’s also reasonably priced for what you get, so it comes highly recommended.

DPReview reviewed the new Canon EOS 90D, Canon’s latest APS-C DSLR.

They gave the EOS 90D a scoring of 85%. Here are some excerpts from their conclusion:

Canon’s latest enthusiast APS-C DSLR represents a solid leap forward in image quality for this line. The 90D, along with its mirrorless near-twin the EOS M6 II, both share what is at the time of publishing, the highest resolution APS-C sensor on the market. It offers outstanding Raw detail capture and noise performance, up there with other class-leaders like the Sony a6400. Canon JPEG color continues to be a favorite, but Canon’s default JPEG noise reduction continues to be overly aggressive – fortunately, this can be dialed down.

[…] Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus in live view […] is excellent, with great coverage and accuracy. Face and eye detect AF both work with good reliability, whether shooting stills or video.

[…] In terms of ergonomics, the 90D is excellent. Its large comfortable grip and sizable optical finder with 100% coverage are something that set it apart from its mirrorless APS-C competition. The body is also weather-sealed and well-built, with well-placed controls.

Seems Canon landed another winner here. I own the Canon EOS 80D, which happens to be my favourite camera for the time being, and to me it appears Canon managed to further improve the xxD line with the EOS 90D.

Is The Future Mirrorless? Are DSLRs Dead? Here Is More Fuel To Add To The Fire

Canon EOS M6 Mark II

Likely one of the most discussed photography topics nowadays. The never-ending, and often futile, debate about mirrorless cameras and DSLRs.

As Ted Forbes, author of the video below, says “gear doesn’t matter beyond picking the right tool for the right job. What matters is what you have to say as a photographer and how you communicate visually“. We fully agree.

Mirrorless is the future? The DSLR is dead? Kind of a funny argument when it comes down to it” says Ted Forbes. “Photography has grown a lot over its short history. One of the greatest things about it is that no technology ever replaces what’s come before it.

Ted Forbes thoughts about the mirrorless vs. DSLR debate are told in the 6 minutes video below.
