[Rumor] First Images Of Canon’s Mirrorless Camera And EF-M 22mm f/2 Lens (Update)

Update #2: We expect Canon to announce its mirrorless camera on Monday, July 23rd, around 6-7 AM London time. Stay tuned, we will cover the event from the beginning providing all the information.

Update: Got some emails saying the sensor will be APS-C sized. Please take this with a grain of salt: it is just a rumor. However, if Canon’s mirrorless camera has an APS-C sensor, the pictured 22mm lens would become 36mm. Personally, I wish it has an APS-C sized sensor and not the sensor of the PowerShot G1 X (which, btw, saw a price drop from $799 to $709 – click here).

Is this Canon’s mirrorless system camera? Looks like. The image appeared on Japanese site digicame-info. The model name is EOS M (you can see it on top of the camera). And you can see a new lens too: an EF-M 22mm f/2 STM pancake lens. New mount type is EF-M (“M” for “mirrorless”?). No word so far about sensor size and resolution. The image is said to come from a camera store, hence it should be reliable. Canon’s mirrorless system camera is expected to be announced on next Monday. Can’t wait to see more of this.

What are your thoughts?

[Review] Another EF 40mm f/2.8 STM Review

Canon’s new, cute EF 40mm f/2.8 STM ($199, click here) is getting lots of reviews, and most of them are more than just positive. The review I cover today comes from fstoppers, and it is the most critic review I saw so far (although it is outlining the strengths of the lens). Sample pics shot with an EOS 7D, a Rebel T4i/650D and a EOS 5D are available for download (scroll down to the end of the post).

[Rumor] EOS 3D And EF 50mm f/1.8 II Murmurings

New tidbits about the almost mythological EOS 3D (rumored since years) and a possible new 50mm f/1.4 II lens. Let’s start with the lens. I reported that there where rumors about Canon working on a new 50mm f/1.8 lens with Image Stabilization. Now, according to CR, a new 50mm f/1.4 is could have been seen out in the wild:

There are even reports of people shooting with the new lens and that it may have appeared on an updated Canon price list (I would love to see the price list). The retail price is said to be $849 on an “EF 50 f/1.4 II”.

Next, the fabled EOS 3D. NL reports a rumor saying that a 47 Megapixel, full frame camera is under test. The camera should have an EOS 5D Mark III-shaped body. No more hints.
