Are These The Canon Rebel SL2 Specifications? [CW3]
The world's smallest DSLR may soon be replaced

We have been tipped with a list of specifications for the upcoming Canon Rebel SL2.

The specification list seems pretty much to be the same as for the EOS 800D/Rebel T7i, announced a few months ago. It’s not unlikely that the Rebel SL2 and the Rebel T7i have same or similar specifications.

The Canon Rebel SL2 might have:

  • 24MP sensor
  • 3″ vari-angle and touchscreen display
  • 1080p/60 fps
  • Dual Pixel AF
  • WiFi/NFC
  • 45 points AF
  • Digic 7
  • ISO 51200
  • HDR movie, time-lapse movie
  • Will still be the world’s smallest DSLR

My take: the list above is plausible, the Rebel SL2 may indeed have specifications and features that are very similar if not the same as other entry-level Canon Rebel DSLRs.

We expect the Rebel SL2 to be announced on June 29, 2017, together with the Canon EOS 6D Mark II and a new entry-level mirrorless camera.

Stay tuned!

If those are the specs, why would anyone buy a T7i or 77D for twice the price.

    They’re the same damn specs.

Even an 80D is hard to justify at that point.

$500 extra for some minor weather sealing and a slightly larger battery. Uhm.

They really need to lower price on their other cameras if they’re going to put the exact same 45 point crosstype AF system with DPAF and same ISO range from cameras costing twice as much, on the cheapest of their cameras

Ergonomics, viewfinder, build quality, etc, etc.

I’d be surprised if an SL2 had an articulating screen AND managed to be the smallest DSLR on the market.
I’m not saying it’s impossible, I’d just be surprised.

Sorry, if you look at the pictures this camera appears to have the old 9pt diamond af system. You can see the etchings on the ground glass in the mirror.

Rebel SL-x line is dead guys/gals, sorry if you didn’t get the hint. The Sl1 (though I loved it) didn’t sell enough to justify a SL2. You want small go adapted eos m.
