How to get the Dehaze feature on Adobe Lightroom 6.1 (free presets)

If you’re not an Adobe CC subscriber then you didn’t get the Dehaze feature with the latest Adobe Lightroom update. The Dehaze tool is available only for Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC, and not for Lightroom 6. If you never heard about Dehaze have a look at the short video above.

There is a way to have Dehaze in Lightroom 6, it comes as a preset and it is free. Prolost released Prolost Dehaze for Lightroom 6.1, a series of presets that give you intuitive, visual access to the new Dehaze feature without requiring a Creative Cloud subscription. You can download the preset for free.

Canon EOS 5DS and 5DS R Live View issue with some Sigma lenses

EOS 5DS

Sigma posted a product advisory (in Japanese) concerning Live View issues on the Canon EOS 5Ds and EOS 5Ds R when certain Sigma lenses are used [via Sigma Rumors].

Phenomenon

When the Live View Mode button on the camera body is pressed, the operation stops without displaying images on the rear LCD monitor.

Good to know

  • If your lens was updated to be compatible with the EOS 760D / 750D, then it will also work with the 5DS / 5DS R.
  • Lenses shipped after May 11, 2015, already have the new firmware and will work in Live View with any current Canon DSLR.
  • Users of the 120-300mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports – the only Global Vision lens to be affected by this issue, see list below – can do this at home using the USB Dock and Sigma Optimization Pro.

Canon published a product advisory regarding counterfeit 600EX-RT Speedlites. [via TDP]

We have confirmed that there are counterfeit Speedlite 600EX-RT flash products in circulation in the market. It has been reported that these products are being sold through various online marketplace websites. These counterfeit products have not been designed or manufactured by Canon, but fraudulently display the Canon logo, and may also fraudulently display other Canon and third party trademarks. Furthermore, these counterfeit products have not been manufactured or tested under the safety standards established by Canon, so we are unable to make representations concerning their safe operation, and there is a possibility that using one of these counterfeit products may cause adverse affects such as generation of fire and/or smoke.

The safety of our consumers is our utmost concern. Unlike genuine Canon products, counterfeit products may not meet government and industry safety standards. To ensure that you’re buying genuine Canon products, we recommend purchasing from a Canon Authorized Dealer or directly from Canon. Please be advised that Canon is not responsible for any malfunction, accident, or damage related to the use of any counterfeit product.

It has also been confirmed that the radio transmission wireless shooting function incorporated into genuine Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT flashes is not incorporated into the counterfeit product.   • The position to release the mounting foot lock lever on a genuine unit is towards the left (see the green arrow), and the position to release the mounting foot lock lever on a counterfeit unit is towards the center (see the red arrow).

  • The display on the Custom Function screen is different. Follow the steps in the Speedlite 600EX-RT Instruction Manual to access the Custom Function screen.
