Nikon will soon announce a new Z-mount camera with APS-C sensor, the Nikon Zfc. Here are some leaked images, and a set of rumored specifications.
Nikon Zfc specs:
- Model name: Zfc (or ZFC or Z-Fc)
- Nikon Z-mount APS-C mirrorless camera.
- The technical specifications will be very close to the Nikon Z50.
- Very thin camera body without a handgrip.
- Nikon Df-inspired design with mechanical dials and articulating screen (“selfie screen”).
- Shape and handling similar to old Nikon FM cameras.
- Three different colors are rumored: silver, black, and brown (leather?)
- Price with kit lens: $999.
- The new APS-C mirrorless lenses for Z-mount could be named “SE”: 28mm f/2.8 and/or 35mm f/1.8 (kit lens).
- The new DX lenses will not be retro, will have the familiar Nikkor Z design.
- Official announcement expected on June 28

This Is The Nikon Z50, An APS-C Mirrorless Camera In The Z Lineup
It’s real. Nikon is going to release a new mirrorless camera in the Z lineup.
After the Nikon Z 6 and Nikon Z 7, both featuring a full frame sensor, the Nikon Z50 is the first camera with an APS-C sensor. The Nikon Z50 is expected to be announced in a few days.
Will Canon follow Nikon and also announce a mirrorless camera with an APS-C sensor in the EOS R lineup? We think not. The difference between he two manufacturers is, Canon already has a successful mirrorless lineup with the EOS M system, Nikon has not. Although it’s technically feasible, it doesn’t make much sense for Canon.

It seems Nikon is set to soon announce a new mirrorless camera in the Z lineup, the Z50.
The Nikon Z50 will have an APS-C sensor. That means the Z50 is the first (and so far only) APS-C camera in the Z mirrorless lineup.
The specifications:
- Nikon Z50 price: €900 in most European countries (around $980)
- Nikon Z50 kit price with the new Nikkor Z 16-55mm (or 16-50mm) f/3.5-6.3 VR lens: €1,100 (around $1,200)
- The Nikon Z50 will have a rear screen that can be tilted downwards for selfies but it will not work with selfie sticks
- 4k video
- Maximum shutter speed: 1/4000
- The Nikon Z50 will be a direct Sony a6400 camera competitor
- 20MP APS-C sensor (based on the D500 sensor)
- Single SD card slot
- 3″ pivoted LCD
- 11 fps
- No IBIS
- Fixed EVF (not removable EVF as described in the latest design patents)
- New Nikon EN-EL25 battery
- Announcement date: October 10th
- The official announcement could be as early as next week
- The Z50 will be the equivalent of the D7xxx DSLR cameras
