Canon Working On A Full Frame Mirrorless Camera?

That's what a Patent spotted by Egami (translated) appears to suggest, if I am not misunderstanding the poor machine translation:

Canon SLR full size corresponds to 50 mm F1.2 and corresponds to the full size mirror-less 50 mm F2 of the patent is pending. Because large-diameter lens symmetrical with the axial chromatic aberration is corrected by using the anomalous dispersion glass which has been optimized, you can expect the performance. We are starting to design-conscious companies with full size mirror-less, the emergence of full-fledged full size mirror-less would be a matter of time.

Canon EF 35mm f/2 Resolution Test (Lensrentals)

[Thanks Daniel]

Roger Cicala and the Lensrentals team just published the resolution test of Canon's new (and relatively pricy, $849, non-L) [shoplink 8253]EF 35mm f/2[/shoplink]. Resolution charts and MFTs are available. The lens performs well, but given [shoplink 8892]Sigma's amazing 35mm f/1.4[/shoplink] lens, which comes more or less for the same price, Canon could have some hard time to make this lens a bestseller.

This is a nice lens with a very nice IS system at a fairly high price. If you need a 35mm Image Stabilized lens, this is the one for you. If you don’t need an Image Stabilized lens, it’s not. Not when you can get the Sigma for the same money. Or you can get the still-surprisingly-good-and-a-real-bargain 35mm f/2 for less than half the money.Roger Cicala synthetic conclusion:

The graph above shows the resolution compared to other Canon lenses and to the Sigma.

Rumor: Canon EF 14-24 f/2.8L Coming At The End Of 2013

Yet another rumor about Canon's EF 14-24 f/2.8L lens. Canon Rumors reports that they were:

[…] told today that the lens is in the pipeline and will be coming in 2013 if there are no more delays with lens production. I was told to expect availability to be in late 2013, but the announcement date was unknown at this time. It makes perfect sense that this sort of lens would be announced with the imminent large megapixel camera that Canon will unveil in 2013.
