Hi Lows Note spotted a Canon patent application (2019-45631A)describing optical formulas for a 35mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.2 for full frame DSLRs, and for a 70-200mm f/2.8 for full frame mirrorless cameras (the EOS R system).

There has been some rumoring that Canon might announce a high resolution EOS R camera in 2019. Nikon has one, the Z 7, so it appears to be plain logic that Canon will follow.
Apparently not. Latest rumors reaching us suggest the high resolution EOS R camera will not ship in 2019, and that’s likely to be a 2020 affair.
We’re not sure what to think about this rumor. Canon itself said they will announce six new RF lenses in 2019, most clearly aimed to a high resolution sensor, so it seems a bit strange they would hold back the exactly camera that could exploit those lenses. The rumor suggests Canon might withhold the high res body until CP+ 2020.
Now for the stranger part. Same rumor says a “high end” EOS R will be announced within 2019. A contradictory statement and that’s when we decided to downgrade the rumor to CW2.
The Canon EOS R has been DxOMarked and gets a score of 89.
A DxOMark of 89 puts the Canon EOS R behind the competition, with the Nikon Z 6 scoring a 95 and the Sony a7 III a 96. The EOS R’s score is very close to the one of the EOS 5D Mark IV, which is not surprising since these cameras have very similar image sensors.
From DxOMark’s conclusion:
While not possessing the low noise levels of the Nikon Z 6 and Sony A7 III, which have slightly lower pixel density and BSI architecture in their favor, the EOS R’s sensor is one of Canon’s best. It comes very close to the one used in the pro-level EOS 1Dx Mark II, particularly in its low light, high ISO capabilities.
With a low noise floor, the dynamic range of the Canon 30MP sensor greatly improves over its predecessors. The EOS R is much more capable of handling high-contrast scenes, thus allowing a photographer faced with protecting highlights at capture to lift shadows in post-processing without incurring some of the noise penalties.
With its first model in a new system, Canon has equipped the EOS R with one of its best sensors—and that, together with some very interesting lenses, signals that it’s taking “mirrorless” very seriously.
Allows EF/EF-S Lens compatibility with the EOS R camera
Drop-in filter Adapter allows use of Variable ND Filters
Dust- and water-resistant
Exterior design matched to EF lenses
Metal mount on both Lens and camera sides provides rugged flexibility
The Canon EOS R Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter was announced along with the Canon EOS R. The adapter can be used to mount EF lenses to the EOS R system, and also to fit a filter or polariser into the mount. Two birds with one stone.
Firmware Notice: RF 35mm F/1.8 Macro IS STM: Firmware Version 2.0.0
Firmware Version 2.0.0 incorporates the following enhancement:
Support for the “panning” scene mode with the EOS RP has been added. The ”panning” scene mode reduces subject blurring and blurs the background when the lens is mounted to the EOS RP.
This firmware update is for lenses equipped with firmware version older than 2.0.0. If the lens firmware is already Version 2.0.0, it is not necessary to update the firmware.
The version of the lens firmware can be checked on the camera menu.
