Armando Ferreira asked a bunch of YouTubers about what they think would be the perfect camera for them.
The featured YouTubers are (in parenthesis what appears to be the perfect camera for them): iJusine and Jenna Ezarik (this camera), Caleb Wojick (this camera), Dave Maze (this camera), Brett Conti (this camera), and Elliot Walker (this camera).
And here is the video.
The Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III seems made for YouTubers.
Panasonic’s proprietary autofocusing technology, Panasonic DFD (Depth from Defocus), is not everyone’s darling.
Panasonic DFD is a technology that calculates the direction and the amount to move the focus lens at a single movement by predicting it with 2 images that have different depth of field (more here).
The video below by DPReview TV, Chris and Jordan discuss Panasonic DFD and how it compares to Canon Dual Pixel AF.
Panasonic S1H at a glance:
- 6K 24fps (3:2 aspect ratio)
- 5.9K 30fps (16:9 aspect ratio)
- 4K DCI & UHD 4:2:2 10-bit 60fps
- 14+ stops of dynamic range
- 4:3 Anamorphic mode
- No time limits on recording
- 225-Area DFD Contrast-Detect AF system
- Sensor-Shift Image Stabilisation
- 3.2″ triaxial tilting LCD (no flippy out LCD here, folks!)
- 5.760K-dot 120Hz OLED EVF
Panasonic announced the Panasonic Lumix S1H, a full frame mirrorless system camera with 6K video and 14+ stops of dynamic range.
Panasonic Announces the New LUMIX S1H Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera
With Cinema-Quality Video and the World’s First 6K/24p*1 Recording Capability
Newark, NJ (May 31, 2019) – Panasonic Corporation is proud to announce the newest addition to the LUMIX S series, the LUMIX S1H, a new Digital Single Lens Mirrorless camera equipped with a full-frame image sensor. As the world’s first camera capable of video recording at 6K/24p *1 (3:2 aspect ratio), 5.9K/30p (16:9 aspect ratio), and 10-bit 60p 4K/C4K.*2 *3, it combines the video quality of a professional camera and the high mobility of a mirrorless camera. The LUMIX S1H will be released to world markets in fall 2019.
The main features of the new LUMIX S1H are as follows:
- High resolution up to 6K for multiple formats.
Maximizing the use of the pixels in the full-frame image sensor, the LUMIX S1H, as a digital camera, has achieved 6K/24p (3:2 aspect ratio) or 5.9K/30p (16:9 aspect ratio) video recording for the first time in the world.*1 It is also the world’s first full-frame digital interchangeable lens system camera*1 to enable 10-bit 60p 4K/C4K *2*3video recording. It accommodates a variety of recording formats like 4:3 Anamorphic mode, to meet professional needs. Its high-resolution data can also be used to create 4K videos with higher image quality or to crop images in 4K.
Tony & Chelsea Northrup posted a 28 minutes video with a pretty bold statement: Canon’s and Nikon’s and Panasonic’s mirrorless systems are dead end, flops, failures.
According to Northrups, Sony E-mount and Fuji X-mount are the most “future proof” mounts. The statements are based on Amazon US data and a lot of more or less educated guessing.
Northrup’s predictions give Canon and Nikon respectively 28.8% and 12.4% market share in the full frame mirrorless market and 12.8% for both Canon and Nikon in 2022.
There are a lot of questionable affirmations in the video below. Please comment in a polite way (if you want to comment).
We all know Canon has the best on sensor AF, Dual Pixel AF. But there are other AF technologies.
The video below by Gerald Undone compares the technology behind autofocus systems like Canon’s Dual Pixel AF in the new EOS R, the hybrid phase-detection in the Sony a7 III, and the Depth from Defocus Contrast Detection found in the Panasonic Lumix G9. Enjoy.
