The whole Canon Cinema line-up saw solid price drops in the last weeks (see here and here). This too suggests Canon may have some new stuff ready to get announced.

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV specification speculation shows up on YouTube video [CW2]

A spec list taken from a YouTube video by user YannickFilms (the video is in German) is making its rounds.

Fifteen “facts” (read: specs) are suggested for the EOS 5D Mark IV:

  • Fact 1: 28 megapixel (maybe 32)
  • Fact 2: ISO 100-51200 (204,800)
  • Fact 3: 9 frames / second
  • Fact 4: 4K video
  • Fact 5: headphone jack
  • Fact 6: Price: 3500-3600 €
  • Fact 7: Touchscreen
  • Fact 8: It was already delivered to photographer
  • Fact 9: Will probably be presented at the Photokina 2016 in Cologne
  • Fact 10: 79 Digic processor
  • Fact 11: CFast 2.0 & SD card slots
  • Fact 12: Built-in WiFi & GPS
  • Fact 13: 61 autofocus points (41 cross type)
  • Fact 14: In spite of the new features Reduced weight
  • Fact 15: New kit lens (probably new version of the 24- 105mm lens)

Please be aware that the list is based on speculations, possible ones but still speculations. However, as you can see the list has some of the rumors that surfaced in the last months, along with some guessing.

I would usually not post this but I have since all the others are posting it too. It deserves a CW2 because the list is at least plausible. The whole rumor was taken from the video above.

Expect first reliable EOS 5D Mark IV rumors to start coming in towards the end of the month. Stay tuned…

Price increase for Canon gear coming June 19 [CW4]

canon rumors

As anticipated a month ago (though we were wrong on the exact date), Canon will raise prices for their products after June 19.

According to my information there will be a general price increase by 2.7% on all imaging products, with some exceptions. Six mid-range DSLR models will see an increase between 6% and 11.5%, and 38 lenses will increase between 11% and 12.7%.

Mail-in rebate schema may also change.

Is this the patent for the next EF 24-105mm F4L IS lens?

Ef 24-105mm F4L IS

A few weeks ago a rumor suggested that Canon may announce a new EF 24-105mm F4L IS lens along with the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. Both are expected to be announced in August, ready for Photokina 2016.

This may easily be the pertinent patent for the new EF 24-105mm F4L IS Mark II.

New Canon EF 24-105 F4L IS lens coming with EOS 5D Mark IV, rumor suggests [CW3]

Ef 24-105mm F4L IS

A new rumor suggests Canon will announce a replacement for the venerable Canon EF 24-105mm F4L IS USM lens.

The Canon EF 24-105mm F4L IS Mark II is expected to be announced before Photokina 2016, together with the upcoming Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, also expected to be announced in August 2016.

The Canon EF 24-105mm F4L IS USM was announced in 2004, a new version is entirely plausible. The EF 24-105mm F4L IS was the typical kit lens for Canon’s full-frame DSLRs.

A few days ago, we had a possible leak of an image of the EOS 5D Mark IV. The picture was posted on Instagram and soon after it was removed.

Stay tuned for more!

Did the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV inadvertently leak, is this the real thing?

Edit: the original Instagram post was deleted

The picture above was posted on Instagram by user levi_siver. It’s a team working on a Red Bull sponsored surf footage. If you read the text at the bottom of the image, it says “working on a windsurf feature for the new unreleased Canon camera“. When asked by another user if it is the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, levi_silver answered “yes“, and added a smiley.

EOS 5D Mark iV
Is this the Canon EOS 5D Mark iV?

You can’t really see or recognise very much of the camera. However, it is totally possible that this is the real thing. If we believe in an announcement before Photokina 2016 (and we do), then it is likely that Canon is already working on the promotion material for the EOS 5D Mark IV.

Stay tuned!
