Ahead of Canon announcement: new leaked images, and more information about camera naming scheme
A few days ahead of the announcement of Canon’s first 4K enabled MILC, a new SpeedLite, and two entry-level DSLRs, we can put order in the naming scheme Canon has chosen for their new gear (courtesy of Nokishita). We also have new images for your viewing pleasure.
- The Canon EOS M50 (specifications) will be named EOS Kiss M in Japan (and Asia?). Two color options will be available, black and white. The kits will come with these lenses: 15-45mm, 18-150mm, and two double zoom kits. Shipment is expected for March 23, 2018
- The Rebel T7 has this name in the US. It’s named EOS 2000D in Europe, EOS 1500D in China, and EOS Kiss X90 in Japan (Asia?). Why an entry-level camera needs four different monikers is sort of a mystery to me. May be to counter grey market import flows. There will be a body only option, and one with a kit lens. Shipping expected March 23, 2018.
- As for the time of writing it’s not sure if the EOS 4000D (EOS 3000D in China) will be released in Japan.
Canon will also release an EOS M100 limited kit in pink by early April 2018 (Japan only, sorry for pink fans). The SpeedLite 470EX-AI is expected to ship late April 2018.
Canon will announce the new gear on February 25/26. Stay tuned.
