More Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II specs and new image leaked

Ef 35mm F/1.4l Ii

More tidbits about the upcoming Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II lens leaked at Digicame Info.

  • The price of the EF 35mm f/1.4L II will be around 275,000 Yen (that’s $2,300, I think the lens will cost around $2,000)
  • Will be released in Japan in mid October 2015
  • The lens uses Blue Spectrum Refractive optics (BR) to obtain low chromatic aberration. BR elements greatly refract the light in the short wavelength region
  • Chromatic aberration is corrected by significantly refracting the particular wavelength range
  • The lens has a new, more advanced weather sealing
  • The lens is more resistant to impacts

Another set of specs leaked yesterday. The Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II will be announced before the end of August, most likely together with the EF-M 15-45mm f/3-5-6.3 IS STM lens and the Rebel SL2. Stay tuned on Canon Watch!

Canon eventually getting serious with the EOS M system? [CW2]

EOS M3

A new rumor surfaced, again suggesting Canon will get serious about the EOS M system… next year.

It’s not the first time that rumors suggest a break-through EOS M camera. in 2014 we were told that Canon would take the EOS M system seriously in 2015. Though the EOS M3 appears to be a good attempt (waiting for mine to be delivered), it’s still not convincing anyone Canon is taking it seriously. It’s true that you can virtually use any EF or EF-S lens with the adapter, but having only four native lenses isn’t a sign of great commitment to the cause.

The secret life of Canon rumors (or: how rumors change ownership)

A user in the DPReview forum is posting fake EOS 5D Mark IV rumors since a while. Now he posted a new rumor.

I am particularly proud to learn that an important rumor I got back in April was considered good enough to be reposted in a forum. Unfortunately, the generous user totally forgot to credit the source of the rumor.

The rumor in the DPReview forum (posted first on CW) was about a possible model split of the EOS 5D Mark IV. The specs we got back in April have been reposted, using different monikers.
