Major Canon Announcement Set For Next Week? (PowerShot G7 X Mark III, G5 X Mark II, Cinema camera)

We have been told that Canon is set to hold a major product announcement next week. Is the PowerShot G7 X Mark III eventually going to be announced?

We expect Canon to announce the PowerShot G7 X Mark III (all rumors), the PowerShot G5 X Mark II, possibly the Canon RF 24-240mm f4-6.3 IS lens for the EOS R system, and maybe a new Cinema camera. The new Cinema camera will likely be the EOS C300 Mark III. In favour of a possible Canon Cinema camera announcement is the fact that both the Canon EOS C200 and the EOS C300 Mark II just got a $1,000 price drop.

A new Canon EOS RP kit with the RF 24-240mm might also be announced. Do not expect the Canon EOS 90D, it will be announced later on, most likely in Fall 2019. We also think it’s unlikely a new EOS M model will be announced.

We have been told that Canon will announce the new gear on July 9 or 10, and the PowerShot G7 X Mark III seems to be the most likely gear to be announced.

All Canon rumors are listed here. Stay tuned.

Next f/2 Zoom For The Canon EOS R System Might Be The RF 16-28mm f/2L

Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L review rf mount canon eos r

Last week a rumor surfaced suggesting Canon is working on a f/2 zoom lens for the Canon EOS R system.

A few days later another rumor surfaced suggesting it might be a RF 16-28mm f/2L lens that Canon is working on. This focal length would nicely complement the already released RF 28-70mm f/2L lens.

Take it with grain of salt, the Internet is flooded with low reliability EOS R rumors. And stay tuned for more intel.

Canon Working On Another f/2 Zoom Lens For The Canon EOS R System?

Another low ranked rumor surfaced form the web.

Canon might be working (even “hard working”) on another zoom lens with f/2 for the EOS R system. There is already an f/2 soon lens for the EOS R system, the remarkable Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L.

No hints on the focal length of the rumored lens. Actually we are still waiting for Canon to release a series of EOS R lenses they have already announced, among them what is usually referred as the “holy trinity” of lenses: RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS, RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS and RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS.

Please take this with a solid grain of salt. We (and it seems others) are flooded with unreliable EOS R related rumors. It’s the hype of the moment.

Stay tuned.
