Some New Canon Full Frame Mirrorless Camera Talk (28MP, $1900, IBIS)

Canon Rumors Canon Full Frame Mirrorless

We got a suggestion (thanks) for a basic specification set for Canon’s upcoming full frame mirrorless camera. Well, at least for one of the two that are rumored.

  • 28MP full frame sensor
  • Dual Pixel Auto Focus
  • IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation)
  • 10fps shooting
  • 4k@30fps
  • 1080p@60fps
  • Priced $1,900

All in all a specification set that’s at least reasonable, and to be expected.

It’s still not clear if we will see a Canon mirrorless announcement ahead of Photokina 2018. Many signs pointed in that direction but nothing new (and reliable enough) came up. An announcement ahead of Photokina could also be for the EOS M5 Mark II, and not for the highly anticipated FF MILC.

New Canon lens rumors also surfaced, there is a possibility Canon might announce new big white L lenses. And there is a list of unreleased Canon gear that has been registered at certification authorities, and that’s the only solid intel about Canon’s agenda that we have at the end of the day.

Stay tuned (all Canon rumors)

Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS III to be announced within a month? [CW2]

Canon EF 600mm F/4L IS III

The rumor mill has it that Canon might announce another big white telephoto lens before Photokina 2018. The rumored lens is the Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS III. This rumor surfaces a day after the rumor about the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III.

No specifications are suggested, just that the Mark III version will focus on “weight reduction”. At the time of writing we can not confirm the announcement of the EF 600mm f/4L IS III. The Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS II was released in 2011, so a replacement appears to be a bit early on schedule.

Have a look here to get an idea about what Canon might announce in the next weeks or months.

Zeiss Otus 100mm f/1.4 lens to be announced before Photokina 2018

Otus 100mm

A rumor reported at Nokishita suggests Zeiss will soon release a Zeiss Otus 100mm f/1,4 lens. The announcement should happen before Photokina 2018.

The Zeiss Otus 100mm f/1.4 has an APO Sonnar design, and is said to have already undergone field testing. It will come four Canon and Nikon mounts (sorry Sony folks). Filter diameter is 86mm.

Zeiss Otus lenses are a lot of things but not inexpensive, so expect the Zeiss Otus 100mm f/1,4 to be in the same price range as its siblings.

Nikon Full Frame Mirrorless Camera to be Announced this Week, Latest Teaser Already About Experience

Nikon Full Frame Mirrorless

Nikon is set to announce their two full frame mirrorless cameras this week, on August 23, 2018. The upcoming Nikon FF MILCS are the Nikon Z6 (a high speed, low light model with a 24MP sensor), and the Nikon Z7 (a high-resolution model with 45MP).

The latest teaser (video below) is about photographers sharing their first impression after having used Nikon’s new mirrorless system. Most of the specifications for the two mirrorless cameras have already leaked.

Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III to be announced within a month? [CW3]

Canon EF 400mm F/2.8L IS III

The rumor mill has it that Canon might announce a new lens before Photokina 2018. The rumored lens is the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III.

No specifications are suggested, just that the Mark III version will “focus on weight reduction and updated coatings”. Along with the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III, so the rumor, Canon might announce also another “big white lens”, for which no focal length has been rumored so far. At the time of writing we can not confirm the announcement of the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III. The Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II was released in 2010, so a replacement may be a bit early on schedule.

With Photokina 2018 being a month away, we should soon see serious leaks, specifications, and possibly some images of the upcoming gear. However, we still have no reasonable hints about what Canon will announce. There are a lot of speculations, and obviously everybody is hoping for the highly anticipated Canon full frame mirrorless camera (all rumors). We have been told Canon will stage a mirrorless related event in the second week of September, others seem to disagree. We too got some conflicting intel later on and at the time being we can not confirm with high confidence that Canon will indeed hold an announcement during the second week of September 2018, and that it will be related to Canon’s full frame mirrorless camera.

Announcement wise, and on top of the probability, ranking you’ll find the EOS M5 Mark II, a 32-35mm f/1.4 or f/1.8 lens for the EOS M system, and we all hope to see a Canon full frame mirrorless camera (at least one). Some yet unknown lenses may also be announced.

We didn’t get any new intel about the EOS 90D/EOS 80D Mark II or the EOS 7D Mark III. An announcement in 2018 is still in the realm of possibilities but appears to become more unlikely as time goes by.

Stay tuned, there is more to come in the next weeks.
