A new rumor, about the Canon RF 300mm f/2.8L IS lens. Is it coming? The EF version is discontinued.

A rather confident rumor suggests that Canon might be close to announce the Canon RF 300mm f/2.8L IS lens. Says the source of the rumor:

[…] Canon has prototypes out in the wild and that the lens is a ground-up redesign of the focal length.

[…] weight has been reduced by almost 40% and  the length by as much as 30% over it’s EF predecessor, though they didn’t have the exact dimensions and weight to give us.

The lens is rumored to get announced at the beginning of 2023.

Stay tuned.

Upcoming Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L Lens Said To Be Postponed, Again

I do not like this kind of rumors. Rumors born out of the fact that it is very likely that Canon will release a given lens (or gear). It’s the case with the Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L lens for the EOS R system.

There is no doubt this lens will come to EOS R system, sooner or later. So why not start a rumor? Says the source of the rumor:

[it had been] reported that it would be announced in 2021, and then in 2022, and now we are told that the lens has been pushed back to 2023. We’re not exactly sure why the lens has been pushed back, but I think that we can assume as to why, and we’re tired of typing the reasons!

I guess the reasons are the usual supply chain issues, mother of all issues. So, after having been rumors for 2021 (with a certain confidence), now the Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L is a 2023 affair. See here all Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L rumors listed since their beginning. There is also a patent referring to the lens.

Stay tuned.

Canon EOS R Replacement In The Pipeline? (won’t be the R Mark II, though)

Canon EOS R With Aps-c

Is Canon readying the release of the replacement for the original EOS R? A new rumor suggests so.

Canon might release the replacement for the EOS R towards the end of 2022 or early 2023, according to the rumor. This EOS R replacement “will sit below” the EOS R6 ad will not be a new version of Canon’s entry level full-frame model, the EOS RP. The previously rumored “ $899 full-frame R series camera” is now said to have disappeared because of the usual supply chain issues.

Stay tuned.

Upcoming Nikon Z 8 Mirrorless Camera Already Used By Nikon Ambassadors

Nikon Z 8

It seems the Nikon Z 8 is reality, and already used by a Nikon Ambassador.

Twitter user How2fly posted an image (on top) that seems to show some HTML code with a mention of Nikon Ambassador Jerry Ghionis using the upcoming Nikon Z 8. It might obviously be faked, but we think it is real.

We expect the Nikon Z 8 to get announced very soon.

What do you think?

Is The Canon EOS R100 The Next MILC Canon Will Announce?

In June we reported that Canon might release a more entry level mirrorless camera with RF mount, the Canon EOS R100. It seems our rumor got a confirmation. These are the specs we were told and reported back in June:

  • 24.2 million pixel APS-C CMOS sensor
  • 4k 30p 8bit
  • There is no HDR PQ mode like the EOS R10
  • 14fps continuous shooting speed
  • 3.0-inch 1.04 million dot vari-angle monitor
  • Scheduled to be released Q1 or Q2 2023

Although the source of the rumor is not mentioning the “EOS R100” moniker, it might well be this camera. The source of the rumor states:

Canon’s next APS-C camera will be a small form factor “vlogger”, which we’re told will be close to the Canon EOS M6 Mark II in design.

Confirmed specifications are still relatively unreliable, but you can be sure that it will shoot 4K at 60fps and that there will likely be a 120fps mode.

[…] been told that the camera will use a different kind of vari-angle LCD screen.

That’s all for the time being. We are rather confident that the rumor refers to the same camera we reported in June, the Canon EOS R100. Time will tell.

Any idea?
