Canon EOS-1D X Mark II to be announced in 2016?

EOS-1D X

After a lot of rumors suggesting the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II would be announced before end of 2015, now an announcement in 2016 is murmured.

Latest EOS-1D X rumor has it that we will see the Canon EOS-1D X not before April 2016. Until now April 2016 has always been traded as the announcement date for the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. Will the EOS 5D Mark IV announcement be postponed to Photokina 2016 (that’s in September 2016)? The EOS-1D X Mark II is still rumored to feature 4K video.

Take everything with a grain of salt, there are no really reliable Canon rumors around for the time being.

Images of a Mitakon Speedmaster 135mm f/1.4 lens leaked on the web. The lens will be available for Canon EF mount, and most likely also for Nikon and Sony FE mounts. There is no info about when the lens will be announced but I guess it will happen soon. The Mitakon Speedmaster 135mm f/1.4 is the world’s fastest 135mm full-frame lens. Stay tuned.

Sample pictures can be seen on Flickr.

More Canon EOS M10 and EF-M 15-45mm IS STM images leaked (M10 has tiltable screen, lens is retractable)

EOS M10

More images of the upcoming Canon EOS M10 and EF-M 15-45mm IS STM lens have leaked at Digicame Info.

The EOS M10 has a tiltable screen, despite being incredibly small. Could the EOS M10 be the smallest APS-C mirrorless camera in the industry?

The EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens has a very compact design, and it is retractable, as we anticipated here on Canon Watch. If you look at the pictures of the lens, you can see the switch to release the lens (same as on the EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM). You can also see that the 15-45mm IS STM has a plastic mount.

There are very few controls on the M10, so it will be operated mainly through the touch interface. While the EOS M10 is definitely an entry-level MILC, it seems to be an interesting piece of gear. Incredibly small and compact, with a tiltable screen, coming with a new super-compact kit lens. WiFi and NFC also seem to be on board. Not the enthusiast-oriented mirrorless camera we hope to see one day, but still: kudos Canon!

Announcement very soon. Stay tuned…

The Baby EOS M is the EOS M10, specs leaked

Specifications of the upcoming entry-level EOS M camera leaked at Digicame Info. The “baby M” is the Canon EOS M10. The specs:

  • 18MP APS-C sensor
  • Size 108 x 66.6 x 35mm
  • Weight 301g
  • 3″ monitor with 1.04M pixels
  • Hybrid CMOS AF III with face recognition and tracking
  • Comes as kit with the EF-M 15-45mm IS STM lens
  • Comes as double kit with the EF-M 15-45mm IS STM and EF-M 55-200mm
  • Approximately same size as EOS M2

The price for the double kit will be $849.99, the EF-M 15-45mm IS STM will sell at $299.99.

Two things to note: 1) the moniker EOS M10 suggests a new mirrorless line-up by Canon (entry-level line-up), 2) this is not the old Canon 18MP sensor of a few years ago. This is a new 18MP since it features Hybrid CMOS AF III.

I expect the announcement to happen very soon, possibly tomorrow. Stay tuned…
