Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L Set to be Replaced Soon?

Edit: corrected typo in post title.

Canon Rumors says:

We’re told that that Canon will replace their 35mm f/1.4L following the announcement and shipping of the upcoming EF 11-24mm f/4L, which has been rumoured since August. We’re told that an announcement date hasn’t been set, however the lens could appear as early as Q1 of 2015, or fall into the second quarter of next year.

According to the given rating, the rumour comes from a source that was reliable in the past.

CW’s take: agree with the rating of the rumour. Alone the number of patents for a 35mm f/4 lens filed by Canon in the last two years make it plausible (patents: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4). It’s also a long time since the [shoplink 184]EF 35mm f/1.4L[/shoplink] was released in 2001.

Announcement Soon: Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L Lens (Update)

EF 11-24mm f/4L
The image of the 11-24mm that leaked some time ago.

I have been told by a good source (thanks) that Canon will soon announce the EF 11-24mm f/4L lens. The announcement may be a matter of a week or two. Price is said to be around $3,000.

An image of the new ultra-wide angle zoom lens showed up time ago. All agree that the image (above) is not a fake. Moreover, there is also a patent for such a lens.

Update (thanks Paul): Canon Germany’s site has leaked the 11-24mm lens, though the link does lead to a “page not found”. In the image below you see a screenshot of the page. The 11-24mm is mentioned where the image is missing. The text says:

The EF11-24mm 1:4L USM is the widest ultra-wide angle lens for Canon full-frame cameras. It features a completely new design, new lens coating and outstanding performance.

Another Mention of Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Coming in 2015

Northlight Images writes:

In a dealer sourced rumour, we’re again told that the 5D mk4 is due for launch at the start of February (in time for CP+ 12th-15th) along with ‘another Canon Pro DSLR’ around the same time.

This is not the first time that the EOS 5D Mark IV is rumored to be announced in 2015. So far very little specs leaked (and/or are speculated). Here at CW we got a rumor some time ago, saying the EOS 5D Mark IV will feature 4k video (which I really hope it will).

It’s still a bit early for reliable EOS 5D Mark IV rumors. Stay tuned…
