These Might Be The Canon EOS R5c Specifications

Remember the Canon EOS R5c? It’s Canon’s rumored EOS R camera for Cinema (hence the “c”). New bits emerged from the interweb of rumor mills.

Canon Rumors reports with high confidentiality a set of possible Canon EOS R5c specifications. Without further ado, here they are:

  • Canon Log 3
  • Canon Log 2 is still being discussed
  • Unlimited 8K30P recording in Cinema RAW Light. XF-AVC and MP4
  • Timecode in/out
  • The same multipurpose hot shoe as the EOS R3. Which will work with accessories such as the Tascam XLR module.
  • Active cooling
  • 3/8″ or 1/4″ mounting point on the EVF for a top handle that won’t interfere with the hot shoe.
  • Full-size HDMI Port
  • The LCD has been moved further back to accommodate the cooling fan. So this likely means that it won’t recess into the body like the Canon EOS R5.

“Active cooling” sounds interesting. Might make it bulkier, and allow for long recording times with 4K and 8K. Announcement of the Canon EOS R5c is expected in 2022. The moniker comes from the community and not from Canon.

It seems Canon might soon release a new Canon EOS R5 firmware update.

Rumor has it Canon might release a new Canon EOS R5 firmware around November 26, the day the EOS R3 should start shipping.

Don’t expect anything earthshaking. Most likely the firmware update will bring support for the new Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L dual fisheye lens and the usual bug fixes.

Shortly after we got the Canon EOS R1 rumor there was more stuff that surfaced from the interweb of rumor mills.

We were told that the Canon EOS R1 might get released in Q3 2022, and that it will “let all competitors behind” (whatever that means). Over there at Canon Rumors they got a few more bits immediately after we posted our rumor. Here are the new bits:

  • Global shutter? Despite being on the wishlist of many, it seems once more it was a hoax. No global shutter on the EOS R1.
  • Where is the EOS R1 positioned? According to a source, the R1 is “A jack of all trades, and a master of none. Except that it will be a master of everything.” (whatever that means(
  • Is the EOS R1 ready? Not yet, apparently. It seems some of the EOS R3 feedback will go into the EOS R1
  • How many megapixel will it have? More than the EOS R3 but no one knows yet how many. Might well be above the 45MP of the EOS R5.
  • Video? Most likely it will have 8K video on board
  • What about the price? Moe than the EOS R3 but less than $10,000.

As you can see, no real beef on the fire here. Sound more like educated speculation than specification to us. Time will tell.

Nikon Z 9 Presentation Video Accidentally Leaked By Nikon India

A few days to the announcement of the Nikon Z 9. As it happens often, a company branch jumped the gun too early and leaked presentation material.

Nikon India leaked the Nikon Z 9 presentation video. It has been removed in the meantime but is still available in many locations over the web (Weibo and Bilibili, for instance). Here it is for your viewing pleasure:

Nikon already posted three teasers for their upcoming mirrorless camera. We expect Nikon to release the Z 9 within the next weeks. So far these are the rumored Z 9 specifications:

  • 45MP stacked sensor
  • 120 fps
  • GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)
  • EN-EL18c battery, and a new battery (EN-EL18x) that can be charged through camera USB-C.
  • Multi-leaf blade protective shutter
  • Car/motorcycle AF tracking, animal and people AI AF, as low as -7 EV
  • Improved articulated screen
  • Two CFExpress memory cards.
  • Third joystick/selector added
  • New shooting modes
  • Shutter sound level control

Sony Set To Announce The Sony A7 IV Soon, And Already Leaked Specs By Mistake

Sony will announce a new camera on October 21st, 2021. The Sony A7 IV. The specifications are already known since Sony leaked them by mistake.

Out friends at Sony Alpha Rumors found out that Sony unveiled some of the specifications for the upcoming Sony A7 IV through the tags they appended to a blog post. Here they are:

  • launch on October 21 (if chip supply permits this)
  • Newly developed 33MP sensor
  • 15 stops of DR
  • 3.69m dot EVF and LCD is improved too (1.44m dot???)
  • 4k30 video is oversampled from 7K
  • 4k 60p will be oversampled from 4.8k s35 mode and 10bit 4:2:2
  • 4k streaming (and FHD 60p streaming)
  • 5.5 stops of IBIS (+ AS)
  • Same A7sIII body design and same heatsink system.
  • Full size HDMi
  • Fully articulating LCD screen
  • Improved touchscreen functions
  • UHS-II SD-cards and CF Xpress cards
  • Same new Sony menu system of the A7sIII
  • Price might be around $2,499 (or maybe a bit more)
