Is this real? We got a tip from an unknown source about the sensor resolution of the upcoming Canon EOS R1.

According to our source, the Canon EOS R1 will feature a 54MP imaging sensor. While this is entirely possible, we recommend you take this with a grain of salt. Rumors about sensor resolution are seldom reliable until a few weeks before the announcement.

All Canon EOS R1 rumors are listed here. Stay tuned.

Canon EOS R5c To Be Released Q1 2022?

canon rumors canon news eos r7 mark ii canon eos rv

A new rumor about the Canon EOS R5c. A camera some wish would come to existence. Time will tell.

Be aware that the moniker “EOS R5c” is nothing official, it was invented by the rumor and fun community. The EOS R5c is said to sport a 45MP sensor (same as EOS R5). Here is the list of rumored specifications:

Canon EOS R5C Information

  • 45mp full-frame sensor
  • DIGIC X
  • Canon Log 3
  • Canon Log 2 is still being discussed
  • Unlimited 8K30P recording in Cinema RAW Light. XF-AVC and MP4
  • Timecode in/out
  • The same multipurpose hot shoe as the EOS R3. Which will work with accessories such as the Tascam XLR module.
  • Active cooling
  • 3/8″ or 1/4″ mounting point on the EVF for a top handle that won’t interfere with the hot shoe.
  • Full-size HDMI Port
  • The LCD has been moved further back to accommodate the cooling fan. So this likely means that it won’t recess into the body like the Canon EOS R5.

Previous rumors pointed at January 2022 for the announcement. Now it is Q1 of 2022. No information about the price. We recommend you take this rumor with a grain of salt.

Stay tuned.

The White Unicorn Is Back: Canon EOS R With APS-C To Come In 2022?

Canon EOS R with aps-c

And here we are again. A new rumor about the Canon EOS R model with a crop sensor.

This time the rumor goes with high confidence, according to Canon Rumors, which gave it their highest ranking. I am still very skeptical about this to be real, but who am I to tell? Most about the EOS R with APS-C is still in the realm of the unknown, though:

The long rumoured APS-C RF mount camera from Canon is starting to appear more and more likely. […] have been told by an [sic] solid source that Canon is “definitely” releasing an APS-C RF mount camera in 2022.

[…] don’t know if we’re talking about something like an “EOS R7” or a camera (s) to take the place of the EOS M line.

Call me a disbeliever but I do still have a hard time to buy it. Guess I will be proven wrong. Time will tell.

Rumor: Canon Working On APS-C Camera With 8K Video?

canon rumors canon news eos r7 mark ii canon eos rv

We got a new rumor and it comes from an unknown source. Not sure how reliable it is. Take it with a big grain of salt for the time being.

We got tipped that Canon might be working on a camera with APS-C sensor capable of 8K video. Nothing was told if this camera is a DSLR or a mirrorless camera. Might this refer to the fabled EOS R camera with APS-C sensor? It doesn’t sound likely it might be a model in the EOS xxD lineup. Does this lineup even have a future? Don’t think 8K will come to any entry-level Canon camera, but I might be wrong.

What is your opinion about this rumorrumor?

Sigma Might Soon Release RF Mount Lenses (maybe up to 5 in 2022)

sigma canon eos r Art Prime rf mount

A new RF mount rumor and I won’t hesitate to classify it under “good news”. Sigma will eventually address the RF mount.

Latest rumor has it Sigma might dedicate its resources to the design and production of RF mount lenses. Maybe already in 2022. Sigma in then past said that there is not enough demand for RF mount lenses for them to invest into it. In June 2021, Mr. Kazuto Yamaki (Sigma CEO) said that the RF mount is internally discussed and researched. To most of us this sounded like “we are getting into it”. So it doesn’t wonder that much that now Sigma is rumored to release RF mount lenses soon. However, be aware that “Sigma is going to release RF lenses soon”-rumors go back to 2019 (see here too). This time it might be reliable, though.

The source suggests that Sigma might release up to five RF mount lenses in 2022. I can only hope it will happen. Sigma lenses are exceptional performers for the money, I myself love the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 and wouldn’t want to miss it. But there are so many more awesome Sigma lenses for Canon cameras.

Stay tuned.

New Unreleased Canon Lenses Show Up For Certification (but what are they?)

canon lenses

Two new and yet unreleased Canon lenses have been spotted at a certification authority. We wonder what lenses are coming.

Spotted by Nokishita, the two lenses with SKUs 4858C005 and 5564C005 (image on top) are mentioned along with the recently released RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens. We think these are two more RF mount lenses but are not sure what lenses. One might be an entry level lens. For all we know the two lenses might well be the RF 18-45mm f / 4-5.6 IS STM and “RF 24mm f/1.8 IS STM Macro, both should be relatively affordable lenses.

An overview about rumored upcoming lenses can be seen here.

Stay tuned.
