The Magic Lantern team delivers the next big gift to all [shoplink 2431]Canon EOS 5D Mark III[/shoplink] and [shoplink 337]Canon EOS 7D[/shoplink] owners. The latest hack uses a trick to obtain 14 stops of Dynamic Range. The hack samples half of the sensor lines at ISO 100, and the other half at ISO 1600. The signals are then mixed and the result is an image that can reproduce 14 stops of DR, 3 stops more than you would get without the hack. According to ML hacker a1ex there are no motion artifacts and no difference in motion blur. More after the break.
After Russian online seller fotoplus, another online shop posted a placeholder for the mighty Canon EOS 8D. Chinese site zol.com (translated) has a page for the EOS 8D, and they have some rather weird specs too:
So, we can conclude that the EOS 8D has an APS-C sized sensor that has a resolution of just 16MP. Not very much. The auto-focus, on the other hand, appears to be something new, with 45 points. And no built-in flash.
Hard to say if this specs have something to do with the real EOS 8D, or if they are just something they put on the site to fill it. However, besides the 16MP sensor, the other (few) specs might make some sense. The big question is if the EOS 8D will be the successor of the [shoplink 337]Canon EOS 7D[/shoplink], or a brand new type of camera. But then there are the 16MP (granted this has something to do with reality). If the 16MP are true specs, then the EOS 8D could be thought as a low light/high ISO beast. Interesting, indeed.

The Phoblographer reviewed the [shoplink 14551]Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM[/shoplink] lens, the first lens for APS-C DSLRs that has constant f/1.8 over the zoom range. All other reviews I featured here on Canon Watch are in line with this one: all praise the excellent build quality, the great sharpness, the fact that this is an outstanding lens.
