Canon’s APS-C Mirrorless Cameras Still Top Ranked In Japan

Mirrorless

The Canon EOS M50 and EOS M100 are best sellers in Japan, especially the former.

No surprise that latest BCNRetail data for May 2019 confirm once more that Canon is doing very good in the APS-C mirrorless market, and not just in Japan.

The EOS M50 has a market share of 20.5% (most sold), the Sony a6400 has 11.5% (second most sold), and the EOS M100 has 7.8% (third ranked).

Canon EOS M50 Conclusion: The most affordable EOS mirrorless with a built-in viewfinder has plenty to offer, at Imaging Resource

Certainly, we wouldn’t hold the limitations of its 4K mode against the little EOS M50 too much, because there’s still a lot of camera here for the money. For less than US$800 street, you can get both the M50 body and a kit lens, and have yourself a very capable still shooter with good image quality out of the box, and the potential for even more from raw or C-RAW.
And you’ll also find great performance and handling in the M50’s relatively lightweight, compact body that pairs beautifully with Canon’s EF-M lenses, and can also accept the company’s many, many years of EF lenses via the optionally-available (and rather pricey) EOS M mount adapter, or more affordable third-party equivalents.

Canon Supercharges BCN March 2019 Rankings

Canon

BCN rankings for March 2019 show once more that Canon is the undisputed market leaded in Japan (and in the rest of the world too).

Canon occupies the top 4 positions with the Canon Rebel T7i (EOS 800D in EU, Kiss X9i in Japan), Rebel SL2 (EOS 200D in EU, Kiss X9 in Japan) and the top selling EOS M50 (Kiss M in Japan). Interesting to see that the Sony a6400 already made its splash and ranks pretty well.

BCN is a Japanese sale statistics company giving a good view of the Japanese camera market.
