Canon EOS 6D Mark II talk but nothing new

canon EOS 6D mark iicanon rumors

A list of  Canon EOS 6D Mark II specifications is making its rounds on the net.

It’s basically another rehash of our Canon EOS 6D Mark II rumors with some common sense-driven additions. So sorry to annoy you with stuff you already know, unfortunatley I have to post this too. Be aware that there is a possibility we will never see an EOS 6D Mark II but a fullframe mirrorless camera instead.

What to expect from the Canon EOS 6D Mark II?

The most traded specification list is below, and was leaked to us over more than a year.

  • 28MP sensor
  • 45 AF points (all cross-type)
  • Dual Pixel AF
  • DIGIC 7
  • Wi-Fi and NFC
  • GPS
  • Articulated touchscreen
  • 6 fps
  • HDR Movie & Time Lapse Movie
  • 4K video
  • Electronic IBIS
  • Dual SD card slots
  • 100% coverage optical viewfinder with some new features

Would you be happy if the EOS 6D Mark II brings this features?

Another big question obviously concerns the announcement date. So far, end of Spring or Summer 2017 are the candidates. However, I still am not 100% sure there will be a Canon EOS 6D Mark II in the shape of a DSLR (more here).

Stay tuned.

Imaging Resource posted their review of the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.

In the conclusion they write:

In our testing, the Canon 5D Mark IV performed as expected in the image quality department, with an overall superb showing, especially with RAW files. The 30MP images displayed lots of fine detail, but straight-from-camera JPEGs tended to be a little on the soft side, whereas RAW files could easily be developed to show greater detail. As we’ve seen with other Canon cameras, the 5D IV’s hue and overall color accuracy are top-notch, and its high ISO performance is also excellent, as we’d expect from a pro-class, full-frame DSLR. Compared to the earlier 5D Mark III, the Mark IV displays much better dynamic range, which is great to see — a welcome improvement for the landscape photographers out there.

There is much more information in the review.

Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM review

Ef 11-24mm F/4L

Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L: B&H Photo, Adorama, Amazon USA, Amazon Canada, Canon Canada, Canon USA

Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L at a glance:

  • L-series ultra-wide zoom lens with an impressive 11mm starting focal length
  • Focal Length & Maximum Aperture: 11–24mm f/4, Closest Focusing Distance : 11 in. / 0.28m
  • New optical design and the use of one Super UD element and one UD lens element
  • Subwavelength Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC), Inner focusing, ring USM, a high-speed CPU and optimized AF algorithms
  • Full-time manual focus allows manual focus adjustment while in AF Mode

Camera Labs reviewed the Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L lens, one of Canon’s optical masterpieces.

From the conclusion:

What makes the EF 11-24mm f4L USM really special is not just the range but the optical quality. It manages to deliver these massive views with impressively low distortion – so much so that if you’re careful to keep the camera level, you’ll enjoy perfectly straight lines and square geometry across the frame. Even better, details are crisp and well-defined across the frame and into the corners at all focal lengths and even at maximum apertures.[…] The results are spectacularly sharp and well-corrected sharp even when mounted on Canon’s highest resolution bodies – or indeed adapted to Sony’s best mirrorless cameras.

The EF 11-24mm f/4L is no budget lens, though. All this optical awesomeness comes at a price, $2,699.
