Canon Lens Rumor: RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Macro, More Images And Basic Specs

canon lens rumor

Close to the announcement, here is a Canon lens rumor with new images and basic specifications of the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Macro lens for the EOS R full frame mirrorless system. Note that this lens was previously rumored to have f/3.5-5.6.

According to Nokishita, the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Macro has this specifications:

  • Optics made of 13 elements and 13 groups
  • Minimum focusing distance: 0.2m (autofocus) /0.13m (manual focus)
  • Maximum shooting magnification: 0.4x (autofocus at 105mm) / 0.5x (manual focus at 24mm)
  • 5 stops image stabilisation
  • Filter diameter is 67mm
  • 76.6mm x 88.8mm, 395g

We expect the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Macro to get announced very soon, likely this or next week. More images of the lens are here.

We also expect Canon to announce the EOS R5 and the Rebel T8i very soon and within the same time frame as the RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Macro. There is also a (controversial) set of specifications for the EOS R5 that’s going around. The specs in bold are said to be more reliable. But still: 8K video at 30fps seems definitely a bit of a stretch, and 4K at 120fps too.

  • It will not be named Canon EOS Rs but R5
  • 45mp full frame CMOS sensor
  • IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation)
    • 5 stops with IBIS alone
    • 7-8 stops of correction when used with in-lens stabilization
  • 12fps mechanical, 20fps electronic
  • Scroll wheel added to the back
  • No touch bar
  • Liveview/Movie toggle like previous EOS DSLRs
  • Larger capacity battery, but looks like the LP-E6
  • 8K@30fps RAW
  • 4K@120fps
  • 4K@60fps
  • Built-in 5GHz WiFi
  • New battery, but the same shape and compatibility as the EOS 5D Mark IV
  • Announcement February 2020 ahead of CP+
  • Shipping in July 2020

Canon Rumour: IBIS Is Coming To The Canon EOS R5 and EOS R6

Canon eos r1 rumour

Here is new Canon rumour about the upcoming Canon EOS R5 and EOS R6 full frame mirrorless cameras.

After a lot of rumors and a remarkable collection of patent applications about IBIS, it seems to be rather sure Canon will feature it on EOS R5 and EOS R6.

A source claiming to have seen promotional videos of both cameras delivered some more bits about. It’s just a bit surprising that a promotional video for a camera, the EOS R6, said to be announced in May, is already leaking.

However, according to the latest murmuring:

  • The EOS R5 has magnesium alloy body, the R6 has not
  • The EOS R6 has a no top-down LCD
  • The EOS R6 has multiple scroll wheels
  • The EOS R6 has a more rounded shape than existing R models

Sounds all plausible, we just wonder that a promotional video has already been produced (and leaked) months before the announcement. Still possible, though, that Canon made a promo video for both the EOS R6 and R5, despite the former getting announced late than the latter.

We expect the EOS R5 to get announced very soon, i.e. within the next weeks. The Canon EOS R5 is rumored to come with some amazing features, and that’s the reason some people think they are not real (the feats in bold are said to be more likely to be real).

Stay tuned for the next Canon rumour.

Will Canon Find A Way To Cripple The EOS R5? These Guys Think So

Canon EOS R with aps-c

While the Internet is still discussing if the recently leaked EOS R5 and EOS R6 rumors are anything near to reliable, here are some guys who think Canon will cripple the EOS R5 with a hammer (like).

Don’t take the folks at Camera Conspiracies too seriously. The intent is sardonic if not sarcastic. Never the less, they might have some good points. Enjoy.

Canon Told US One Year Ago That An 8K Capable Canon EOS R Camera Is Coming

Canon EOS R with aps-c

If you follow us, you’ve seen the latest Canon EOS R5 rumors. And if you did, you might be scratching your head because of the rumored 8K @30fps.

Thanks to an attentive user of CW, it turns out Canon anticipated an EOS R model with 8K video already one year ago (sorry, I forgot). In an interview with Imaging Resource, a Canon exec said:

Video will play a huge role in the EOS R System for sure. For example, an 8K video capable camera is already in our EOS R-series roadmap

However, the “EOS-R-series roadmap” could easily extend over the next 5 years, and nothing in the interview suggests that the Canon EOS R5 will feature 8K video. But then, it has been said by a Canon executive, so at least you can be sure that it will be featured on some future EOS R camera. Now it’s to see how far in the future this EOS R camera is.

One thing is sure: if the EOS R5 comes with 8K, then Sony might be in serious troubles.

Stay tuned.
