A new prime lens for EOS M system to be announced before CP+? [CW2]

EF-M 22mm
The EF-M 22mm f/2 STM, the only fast prime for the EOS M system, so far

A prime lens for the Canon EOS M system was rumored since a while. I have been told (thanks) that Canon may announce an EF-M 32mm f/1.8 lens along with the EOS M6. This comes from a new source so I rate it CW2. However, it’s plausible and a focal length around 35mm is what we have been told in the past. For sure it would be a welcome addition for EOS M users.

Currently there are two prime lenses for the EOS M system, the EF-M 22mm f/2 STM and the EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM.

Canon will announce a lot of stuff in the next week, before CP+. There is the EOS M6, new Rebels with one named EOS 77D, and likely more.

Stay tuned!

Canon EOS 77D and Rebel T7i specifications leaked

The Canon EOS M6 is the company’s next mirrorless camera [CW5]

eos m6
The EOS M5 (image above) will soon have a new sibling, the EOS M6.

Well this comes as a surprise, at least the moniker does. As information leaked at Nokishita Camera suggests, Canon’s next mirrorless will be the Canon EOS M6.

No image so far, but a list of specifications (also for the new electronic viewfinder, the EVF-DC 2). Since the spec lists come together I wonder if the EOS M6 will have a built-in EVF. Might it be a consumer-oriented model? The fact that there are two color options makes me think it will have a more reduced feature set than the Canon EOS M5.

  • EOS M6
    • Color: Black/Silver
    • Body only, kit with EF-M 15-45mm lens, kit with EF-M 18-150mm lens, double zoom lens kit
    • SKU: 1724C001 (black), 1725C001 (silver) – [The three-digit number behind C changes according to the selling country and kit]
  • EVF-DC 2
    • Color: Black/Silver
    • SKU: 1727C001 (black), 1882C001 (silver)

That’s all for now. Stay tuned because I am sure there will soon be more information.

Canon EOS 77D instead of Rebel T7s, and featuring Dual Pixel Auto-Focus? [CW2]

canon rumorscanon rumors

Please note: I’m pretty sure the moniker EOS 77D showed up before somewhere on the web.

I have been told (thanks) that there might not be two new Rebel DSLRs by Canon, but just one Rebel and a new DSLR named EOS 77D. The EOS 77D would be the replacement for the Rebel T6s (and hence we may not see a Rebel T7s). Moreover, my source suggested that the EOS 77D might have Dual Pixel AF on board (which we heard previously).

This makes sense. The Rebel T6s was the less entry-level Rebel DSLR. It has a display on top, a control wheel, mode dial lock, and other features normally not seen on a Rebel class DSLR. I always thought the Rebel T6s was entering the domain of the EOS xxD line-up.

The moniker EOS 77D looks a bit weird to me, not really Canon-like. On the other hand, the 2-digits moniker would in some way suite the feature set of a possibly even further enhanced Rebel replacement. However, this rumor strikes with another rumor we recently got, suggesting the new Rebels will be named EOS 770D and EOS 780D in Europe. No way Canon will name the same camera EOS 780D in one continent and EOS 77D in another.

The announcement of these upcoming Canon DSLRs is expected soon. For the time being, rumors suggest a 28MP sensor.
