That’s a weird news, not even a rumor. Nikon is said to withdraw from SLR camera development.

Reported by Nihon Keizai Shimbun, here are the main points (machine translated):

  • Nikon withdraws from development of single-lens reflex camera
  • Existing models will continue to be produced and sold for the time being
  • Introducing artificial intelligence (AI) and image processing technology and concentrating on the development of mirrorless cameras that are becoming mainstream in the market
  • Canon also plans to end the development of the flagship model of SLR cameras within a few years

It seems that two new Canon RF mount lenses might get announced very soon. Vendors appear to have them already added to listings.

According to the rumor, Canon might announce two new RF mount lenses very soon, the Canon RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM and Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM. Images of both lenses allegedly in vendor listings appeared on Imgur. Here they are:

Canon might release a replacement for the Canon EOS C200 soon, i.e. next year.

Latest murmurings have it that Canon might release the Canon EOS C200 Mark II in 2023. It seems the Canon EOS C200 Mark II will have “the ability to easily switch between EF and RF mounts. We’re told that the EF mount comes off to reveal the RF mount“. A first set of specifications also leaked:

  • Same image sensor as the Cinema EOS C300 Mark III
  • Same connection ports as the Cinema EOS C300 Mark III
  • Compatible with Cinema EOS C300 Mark III and Cinema EOS C500 Mark II accessories
