Latest Canon Tilt-Shift lenses rumor. Canon may release the replacements for the [shoplink 14603]Canon TS-E 90mm f 2.8[/shoplink] and [shoplink 14608]Canon TS-E 45mm f/2.8[/shoplink] not earlier than 2014, but there might be an announcement in Autumn 2013. The same rumour source also suggests there could be more EF lenses announced in 2013, and that Canon is very occupied with designing more Cine lenses.

Canon EOS 7D Mark II Possible Specifications Leaked

EOS 7D Mark II
Fake EOS 7D Mark II (mock-up)

A first list of possible specs of the rumored EOS 7D Mark II surfaced on the web. The EOS 7D Mark II is expected to be announced in early 2014. The specification list confirms the 24MP sensor I reported yesterday.

  • 24.1mp APS-C Sensor
  • Dual DIGIC V
  • 10fps
  • Dual Memory Card Slots (Unknown configuration)
  • 61 AF Points
  • 3.2″ LCD
  • Build quality like 5D3
  • GPS & Wifi
  • $2199 ($500 more than the 7D at launch)
  • ISO Performance to get close to the 5D3
  • “Lots of video features”

The feature list above separates the EOS 7D Mark II from the also feature-rich Canon EOS 70D. Speccing up the 7D Mark II is a step Canon will have to go if they want to establish the 7D Mark II as the new APS-C flagship over the EOS 70D.

Canon Rumor: EOS 7D Mark II in Early 2014, May Feature 24MP Sensor

[shoplink 337]Canon Rumor[/shoplink]

The Canon EOS 7D
[shopcountry 337]

Latest Canon EOS 7D Mark II rumor. It is rumored that the EOS 7D Mark II may not have the same 20MP sensor of the recently announced EOS 70D, but possibly a new 24MP sensor. That makes sense, since a higher resolution sensor is needed in order to separate the EOS 7D Mark II clearly from the EOS 70D (which already sports a new, innovative sensor). Both DSLR are APS-C cameras, and the EOS 70D delivers a lot of advanced features.

The EOS 7D Mark II will not ship before end 2013, and most probably will do in early 2014. To get the whole picture check also the 7D Mark II rumour I posted yesterday. Finally, it is also suggested that there will be two new professional DSLRs announced in 2014, not featurimg APS-C sensors.

Canon Rumor: EOS 7D Mark II Announcement not Earlier than September 2013, May Have New Sensor, New Auto-Focus System

[shoplink 337]Canon Rumor[/shoplink]

The Canon EOS 7D
[shopcountry 337]

Latest Canon EOS 7D Mark II rumor. It is said that Canon will not announce the successor of the highly popular, and 4 year old, Canon [shoplink 337]EOS 7D[/shoplink] until the Canon EOS 70D starts to ship regularly. Moreover, if there is no sign of Nikon announcing a D400, it could be that Canon will further delay the announcement until early 2014. The EOS 7D Mark II sensor should have “additional functionality”, and could subsequently be featured on the whole Canon APS-C line-up. This gets me a little puzzled since Canon introduced a new and innovative sensor with the EOS 70D, and it could be hard to top this sensor’s functionality (especially if considering how conservative Canon is regarding the release of new technology).

The most interesting part of the rumour: the EOS 7D Mark II could introduce a new, more advanced Auto-Focus system, and the talk is not about life-view AF. This AF system is said to going to be featured also on the replacement of the Canon [shoplink 4119]EOS-1D X[/shoplink], so it should be a very sophisticated AF system. If Canon will really feature an AF system advanced enough for the EOS-1D X successor on an APS-C DSLR is something I would take with a grain of salt. But then…

Two New EOS M Cameras Before End Of Year?

EOS M

After the recent fire sales of the Canon EOS M, things look like as if Canon is trying to empty stocks. Adorama has the EOS M listed as discontinued, same for other online shops. Hence, the latest EOS M rumour fits with what happened last week.

Canon may announce two new EOS M models later this year, a basic upgrade with an 18MP sensor (same of the [shoplink 11240]EOS 100D[/shoplink]), and a more sophisticated model with the new 20MP, dual pixel CMOS AF sensor of the Canon EOS 70D. The EOS M with the 20MP sensor is said to ship not before the EOS 70D (i.e. not before September 2013), the more basic variant should be released earlier. The 20MP model of the the new EOS M is said be aimed at more pro-oriented, full-frame EOS shooters and will have a viewfinder. Finally, Canon may be working on a focal length reducer for EF lenses that should be announced along with the the 20MP, dual pixel AF version of the the EOS M.

The new EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens should be released in a few days.
