Video: Is Metabones Working On A SpeedBooster For EOS M?

SpeedBooster For EOS M? That’s what the videos above and below suggests (by user ckstoa on YouTube). The video above shows an adapter taken from a box with Metabones written on. The used camera is clearly an EOS M (the AF for sure :-) ). In the video below you can clearly see the Metabones logo on the adapter. Is this a prototype undergoing testing? Metabones never mentioned the EOS M mount explicitly, they were just stating that “support for other mounts will be added in the future”.

Interesting news! Would be cool to have a Speed Booster for the Canon EOS M (price & specs). Btw, the EOS M used in the videos has Magic Lantern installed on it.

Canon Rumor: A Large Sensor PowerShot Camera Coming In 2013

Canon Rumor

A new, interesting rumor came up. Canon may be working on a compact camera with a large sensor. Not a successor of the PowerShot G1 X (price & specs), but a camera like the PowerShot S110 (price & specs), just a bit a larger. The camera should have a fast lens and the new APS-C 18MP sensor featured on the Rebel Sl1/EOS 100D (price & specs), and the DIGIC 6 Image Processing Unit. No viewfinder. Pricing should be less than the PowerShot G1 X when it was released. We expect Canon to announce this camera at the end of SUmmer 2013.

Rumor: Canon EOS 7D Mark II Release Postponed To 2014?

7D Mark II

A new, not-so-funny rumor concerning the Canon EOS 7D Mark II, the anticipated successor of the Canon EOS 7D (price & specs), surfaced on the web. It is now murmured that Canon will not release the EOS 7D Mark II during 2013. There could be an announcement, but 7D Mark II will be released no earlier than 2014. If true, it means that we will see only the announcement (and hopefully) release of the Canon EOS 70D this year. Not good news for all those who are looking forward to replace the 3 year old EOS 7D, or are waiting to get the new iteration of the 7D.

However, there could be several lenses that will get announced during 2013.

Rumor: New Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS II Lens Could Be Announced Fall 2013

EF 800mm f/5.6L IS II

A rumor concerning the replacement of the replacement of the Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM (price & specs) lens.

The Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS II could be announced shortly after the Canon EF 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x has (eventually) started shipping. According to the latest rumors this could due in Fall 2013. However, if there will be an announcement it will be a development announcement. Regarding used materials the new EF 800mm f/5.6L IS II will have a new build type, the optical formula is said to be “nearly identical” but improvements in vignetting and sharpness are possible.

Finally, some sources say the EF 800mm f/5.6L IS II could have a built-in teleconverter.

This will not be a cheap lens: the actual Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM has a price tag of $13,249.
