The lens is very compact. For the time being it is not clear if the lens will extend or not. Word is about a “lens storage mechanism”. The lens could be announced very soon.

As far as I know the announcement of the next EOS M system shouldn’t be that far away.

It should be an image stabilized 11-22mm f/4-5.6 lens, the EF 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM. Unfortunately there are no more specs leaked for this lens, just that the filter diameter will be 55mm. I guess the lens will be very compact.

Such a wide-angle zoom was murmured in the past, so I think the rumor is quite plausible. Moreover, Canon’s Masaya Maeda clearly stated that Canon is working on more lenses for the EOS M system.

Could The New EOS-1D C Firmware Turn an EOS-1D X In An EOS-1D C?

A few days ago Canon announced a firmware update for the Canon EOS-1D C, which, among other fixes, brings 25fps at 4k. The firmware is not available by download, instead you have to take your EOS-1D C to an authorized Canon service center in order to get it on your camera. This is unusual.

The Phoblographer reports about users that are suggesting Canon doesn’t want the firmware to get in the hands of EOS-1D X owners. Why? Because the hardware of both cams is nearly (if not totally) the same and the EOS-1D C firmware could turn an EOS-1D X in an EOS-1D C, a higher end gear with a much heftier price tag ($11,999 vs the $6700 of the EOS-1D X). Btw, the EOS-1D X also got a firmware update in the last days.

Canon EOS 70D Rumored To Have New Auto-Focus Technology

Slight correction of the latest Canon EOS 70D rumor. It appears that the July announcement regards a brand new AF technology that Canon has developed. The new AF tech will first be featured on the Canon EOS 70D which is said to be announced immediately after the announcement of the AF technology.

Very interesting news, though there are no more tidbits about what makes up the new AF technology.
