Canon To Soon Announce RF 85mm F/1.2 DS And RF 70-200 F/2.8L IS Lenses

Canon might soon announce the long awaited RF 85mm F/1.2 DS (DS = Defocus Smoothing) and RF 70-200 F/2.8L IS lenses. We are pretty confident that both lenses might be announced within the next weeks. Both lenses are for the Canon EOS R full frame mirrorless system.

Fujifilm Color Science vs Canon Color Science – A Quick Comparison

Most of us think Canon has the best color science of all players in the industry. Period. Many of us think Fujifilm follows close up.

Denae & Andrew posted a rather interesting video where they compare Canon and Fujifilm colors. They used a Canon EOS RP and a Fujifilm X-T3 for the test. Both raw and JPEG files are compared, though it makes more sense with JPEG images in our opinion (at 5:37min in the video). One thing I like a lot in Fujfilm cameras are the film simulations. Wish Canon would feature something similar on their cameras.

According to the comments to the video, people seem to like Canon colors more. What do you think?

More Canon EOS-1D X Mark III Information Leaks (IBIS still rumored)

We are getting closer to the announcement of Canon’s next top dog flagship DSLR, and some new bits come in.

A new set of rumored specifications for the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III surfaced over the web. According to the source, the specifications below apply to a working prototype of the EOS-1D X Mark III.

  • 28.1mp full-frame CMOS
  • Up to 30fps still shooting
  • Dual DIGIC 9 (would be the first time the EOS-1D series would introduce a new processor)
  • IBIS
  • New and larger rear LCD, the source said it looked brighter too.

This is the second time that IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation) is mentioned to be featured on the EOS-1D X Mark III (all rumors). And that sounds a bit weird to us. Why should Canon introduce IBIS on a top tier DSLR, which will most likely be bought by people already owning lots of expensive and image stabilised lenses? Wouldn’t it make more sense on a mirrorless camera? IBIS on a future Canon mirrorless camera has already been suggested by a Canon exec. For sure Canon filed a remarkable collection of patent applications dealing with IBIS. IBIS is coming to Canon cameras, that’s a sure thing. But will the EOS-1D X Mark III be the first to feature it?

However, announcement of the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III is expected in February 2020, so stay tuned for more.

Canon Will Release A “Limited Gold Edition” Of The EOS M200

Want a fancier Canon mirrorless camera? Canon might soon satisfy your needs with a Limited Gold Edition of its latest APS-C mirrorless, the Canon EOS M200.

At the time of writing it’s not clear if the golden EOS M200 will be released only in Japan. and if it will ship when the normal EOS M200 starts to ship (that’s on October 10-12, 2019).
