Canon EOS 60D Listed As Discontinued On Amazon Germany (EOS 70D hint?)

Canon EOS 60D Listed As Discontinued?

Canon EOS 60D Listed As Discontinued? Thanks to our reader Chris who emailed this. Not sure what is going on here. Amazon Germany lists both the EOS 60D body only and the kit with the EF-S 18-135mm IS lens as discontinued. The last line in the picture above says that the item has been discontinued by the manufacturer [Auslaufartikel (Produktion durch Hersteller eingestellt): Ja]. Click on the links above and scroll down to the paragraph titled Produktinformation.

Typo or an embarrassing error that may suggest an upcoming EOS 70D? The latest rumor we heard about the Canon EOS 70D was saying that there will not be any announcement soon. What do you think?

Latest Canon EOS 7D Mark II Rumor Suggests 25Mp and Announcement January 2013 (with EOS 700D, and no 70D)

canbody

The latest Canon EOS 7D Mark II rumor says Canon will announce the camera in January 2013 (before CP+, possibly during PMA). The Canon EOS 7D Mark II might be announced along with the EOS 700D, and there should not be an EOS 70D for some time. Instead of the EOS 70D, the EOS 7D with a reduced price tag will target the market share of the EOS 60D.

Regarding the (rumored) specs of the Canon EOS 7D Mark II: 10fps and a sensor with no more than 25MP.

It's also said that Canon is leaking false rumors to track leaks. :-)

The After Photokina Canon Rumors Round-Up (7DII, 70D, 700D and the high res cam)

EOS 3D mock-up, image credits: petapixel.com

After all the expectations and the heat of Photokina, it’s time to go back to business as usual. That means rumors, and there is a bunch of new ones to discuss.

NL has been told that you can expect to see a high megapixel DSLR that will showcased at the PhotoPlus exhibition in NY, from October 24th to 27th. Seems like the price and the performance of Nikon’s D800 is somewhat worrying Canon. The rumor suggests the following specs for the high res DSLR (which may be named EOS 3D, and may be available later next year):

  • 46.1MP
  • 5fps
  • 16bit
  • ISO: 100-12800

This is not the first time a rumor about a Canon high res DSLR shows up. We reported about time ago.

There is more, still coming from NL. And this one is no less than about a new sensor design, supposed to appear during next year. It comes bigger: this new sensor design is said to show up not just in the high res camera we discussed above, but also in the EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 70D and EOS 700D. Delays in the development of this sensors may have pushed the massive firmware upgrade for the EOS 7D.

Take rumors with a grain of salt, as usual. But be also aware that they happen to be true. When we reported the rumor about an entry level DSLR by Canon, it seemed to be rather implausible to lot of people. And then, last week, Canon announced the EOS 6D. What I want to say: a high megapixel DSLR by Canon is plausible, not just because Nikon has one. It is plausible because lots of professionals need high resolution sensors.

[Rumor] Canon High Resolution DSLR And EOS 7D Mark II Tidbits

Two rumors surfaced during the last weekend. First one comes from CR and is about a >40MP DSLR. The interesting thing: the sources states that two prototypes of this high res cam were tested during the London Olympics. The camera housing is said to be that of the EOS-1D X. The camera should have a high framerate, despite its high res sensor, 8 fps have been mentioned. Finally, there are more, unspecified “new features and technology” that are tested with the prototypes.

Second one comes from NL. This rumor basically overlaps with another rumor CanonWatch was first to report. An EOS 7D Mark II could be around the corner, and may get announced later this year (Photokina?). This DSLR will be the new APS-C flagship in Canon’s line-up. The rumored specs:

  • 24MP – an all new sensor with phase AF on chip and noticeably lower noise than the current 18MP.
  • 1Dx/5D3 based AF system.
  • 10 FPS.
  • ISO 100-25600.
  • High speed video, with still capture.
  • Improved durability and sealing.

I got this rumor in the past, with slightly different naming. My source named a 70D to be the new APS-C flagship and a 7D Mk II as the entry level full-frame DSLR we all think Canon is working on. As I wrote before, I do not think that Canon’s entry level FF DSLR will be named 7D Mk2, but 6D. Last point: The EOS 7D has just seen a massive firmware update, isn’t that somewhat strange if Canon plans to release the second iteration of its popular APS-C flagship? On the other hand, the 7D was released three years ago, and hence due for an update.

Btw, the 7D got a concrete price drop in the last month. The EOS 7D can be found refurbished at Canon Store for $1,359, click here) and on eBay too, starting refurbished from , and new from (.

[Rumor] More Canon Entry Level Full-Frame DSLR Tidbits (Expected For October, Not Photokina)

A quick update about Canon’s entry level full-frame DSLR. The rumor comes from NL. They report about a 22MP camera that could be named EOS 6D. I reported similar rumors time ago, but my sources named this cam EOS 7D Mark II. Nevertheless, I think “EOS 6D” has more possibilities to be the real name. It makes more sense, imo, especially if you consider the fact that the EOS 7D is Canon’s APS-C flagship, and that the EOS 5D Mark III is Canon’s full-frame flagship. An entry level FF DSLR would be positioned between the 5D Mk3 and the 7D. Hence, “EOS 6D” makes perfectly sense. However, it could also be that an EOS 70D will succeed to the actual 7D (bringing the glorious xxD line back to semi-pro levels) and that an EOS 7D Mark II could indeed be the entry level FF camera. Speculations, I know.

There is another thing: NL’s source(s) say that this entry level full-frame DSLR will not be announced during Photokina in September, but later in October.

[Rumor] EOS 70D Will Be Top Of APS-C Line-Up, EOS 7D Mark II Will Be Entry Level Full-Frame

Got two new, hot rumors. From reliable sources (can’t name them, can just confirm they are indeed reliable) is told that the EOS 70D (expected in September for Photokina) will move upmarket regarding features (note: I got a similar rumor at the end of May, but it was about the 7D2). Following the rumor, the EOS 70D should replace both the EOS 7D and the EOS 60D, becoming the top model of Canon’s APS-C line-up. An EOS 70D with more pro features, better construction and increased performance. That would mean that Canon is putting the x0D line-up under a new light, after having split the line with the 60D (which wasn’t really the follower of the EOS 50D) and the 7D (which, in some sense, took the X0D heritage).

But it’s getting even hotter. :-) The EOS 7D Mark II (also expected for Photokina) is said (by my source) to be Canon’s rumoured entry-level full-frame camera!! It may sound somewhat strange that the next iteration of the 7D line will change the sensor type (bigger), but it is not entirely in the domain of absurdities. On the other hand, the [shoplink 2431]5D series[/shoplink] has always been Canon’s full-frame line. If the 7D Mark II will be a FF camera, that would mean that Canon is introducing a new FF line-up, or that the 7D2 will be aggregated to the 5D line (sounds a little weird). Whatever, we only can wait, and conjecture. :-)

Have a nice day (or night), wherever you are.
