Venus Optics will release a very very fast lens in 2020, a lens named “Argus” and with f/0.95.
That’s what Mirrorless Rumors is reporting. The Argus f/0.95 was talked about by Venus Optics during a presentation in China. The lens will be available for DSLR and mirrorless mounts.
The next intel we want to gather is focal length, and the price. Stay tuned.
DxOMark lab-tested and posted a Canon EOS RP Review. The EOS 6D Mark II heritage does reflect on the score.
The Canon EOS RP sensor scored 85 points, and is clearly behind he competition, as you can see in the image below.
In their conclusion they write:
As the first and only entry-level full-frame mirrorless camera currently available, the Canon EOS RP provides an easier entry into the full-frame mirrorless market than the EOS R from a pricing point of view. However, it might be too much to expect the RP sensor to match the current leading-edge sensor performance in the considerably more expensive mid-range mirrorless models. At the moment, those wanting better sensor performance from a Canon full-frame mirrorless camera, particularly with regard to dynamic range, will have to spend considerably more on the Canon EOS R.
This said, noise levels and color accuracy are very good and not that far behind the sensors in the Nikon Z 6 and Sony A7 III. These traits, combined with its inherent portability and generally good mix of features and ergonomics, make the RP an attractive option for travel, street, and yes, even landscape photographers.

Here is very interesting Canon patent application (2020-8773A, Japan) for two zoom lenses for the EOS R full frame mirrorless camera system. Might be a patent application that hits the market sooner or later.
The lenses described in the patent application appear to be for the RF lens mount, i.e. for the Canon EOS. Optical formulas for an RF 24-100mm f/2.8 and an RF 24-85mm f/2.8 lens are discussed in the patent application.

MELVILLE, NY, January 10, 2020 – Canon U.S.A., Inc. and its parent company, Canon Inc. of Japan, are pleased to announce that the companies have won a lawsuit involving the unauthorized and infringing use of the Canon trademarks and the illegal sale of counterfeit “Canon” merchandise against two defendants in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Judge C. Darnell Jones II entered a Final Consent Judgment on December 12, 2019 prohibiting the defendants from infringing and counterfeiting the valuable Canon trademarks. As part of the resolution, the defendants also paid a significant amount of money to Canon for their unlawful activities.
The legal action against Joey Fang and Kyung “Kay” Kwak resulted from Canon’s investigation into the defendants’ distribution of counterfeit Canon camera batteries on eBay, and is part of Canon’s ongoing efforts to protect Canon consumers’ health and safety from counterfeit products. The complaint, which was filed on October 16, 2019, alleged that defendants’ unfair competition and misuse of the Canon trademarks to mislead the public as to the source and authenticity of the Canon trademarks could put Canon consumers’ safety at risk and damage Canon’s business and reputation. The Canon companies are represented by Mark Schonfeld of Burns & Levinson LLP of Boston, MA and Teri M. Sherman of Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg LLP of Philadelphia, PA.
