Canon’s High Resolution EOS R Camera Undergoing Field Testing?

high resolution eos r

Did you forget about the high resolution EOS R model we reported first about and that was confirmed by a Canon exec? Well, it’s here again.

A new rumor about the high resolution EOS R showed up, and it seems it sums up everything that was rumored in the past. The source claims that a small group of selected photographers is already testing this camera. The rumored resolution is 90MP, which fits pretty well with the resolution we were tipped last year. There is also a Canon patent that seems to confirm what our sources told us.

All in all there is nothing new coming with this rumor. Sometimes the interweb just recycles what is already there, and easily gets forgotten. That’s how the rumor industry works. Take it or leave it. The only new information coming with this rumor concerns the EVF (Electric ViewFinder), said to be larger than on actual models.

That’s all. So far no specifications nor an announcement date have been suggested.

Stay tuned.

Canon EOS R With APS-C Rumor Surfaces Yet Again (now it’s 2021)

canon eos r with aps-c

Some rumor are surprisingly smart when it comes to the perfect timing. The long running and now-and-then surfacing rumor about a Canon EOS R with APS-C sensor seems to belong to this category.

Just a few days after someone suggested Canon might kill the EOS M lineup, someone else suggests that Canon will release an EOS R model with crop sensor.

We always had a hard time to buy this rumor, independently of the source. The Canon EOS M lineup is well established, has a fond user base, and is a best seller with the EOS M50. So why the hell should Canon kill the EOS M lineup? And why should they come up with an EOS R camera with APS-C sensor? Wouldn’t even further fragment their offering?

However, the EOS R with with a crop sensor gets shifted fro year to year. It’s now rumored for 2021 but I bet in 8 or 10 months it will be rumored for 2022. I migth be wrong but I call the EOS-R-with-APS-C nothing but a fantasy (or bs, your mileage may vary). If someone has a compelling argument for such a camera, I’m listening.

Yet unreleased Canon cameras showed up at a wireless certification authority. Are these the upcoming EOS M cameras?

Two unreleased Canon cameras with the SKUs DS126834 and DS126949 have been registered as certified by a certification authority. We think these cameras might be the rumored EOS M50 Mark II and/or EOS M7. A specification list that could refer to one of these cameras is also rumored. However, the SKUs could also refer to some entry-level DSLR replacement.

Stay tuned.

Canon eos m50 mark ii

Canon might announce up to two new EOS M cameras within 2020, that’s what’s rumored.

The rumored upcoming Canon EOS M cameras are said to be the replacement for the highly popular EOS M50 and a possible new EOS M flagship, named the EOS M7. A partial list of specifications for one of these cameras could have leaked over the web. Here they are:

  • 32mp
  • IBIS
  • DPAF II
  • New DIGIC Processor (perhaps a lesser version of DIGIC X?)
  • EVF
  • Dual SD Cards
  • 12fps
  • Full sensor width 4K up to 60p
  • 1080p at 120p
  • CLog

There is no rumored announcement date so far but if it is true that these new EOS M cameras are coming in 2020, then there isn’t that much time left to speculate about.

Canon EOS M7 and EOS M50 Mark II To Be Announced In 2020?

Canon eos m50 mark ii

Here is a follow up on the rumor about the new Canon EOS M cameras that might be announced in 2020, the EOS M7 and EOS M50 Mark II.

The Canon EOS M7 might be Canon’s next flagship in the EOS M lineup.

Along with the EOS M7 Canon might also release a “higher-end” EF-M lens”. The fact that Canon’s next EOS M flagship has a “7” in its moniker doesn’t automatically mean it’s intended to replace the EOS 7D Mark II, which might be the last of its kind.

No surprise Canon is set to release a successor to their highly popular EOS M50. The EOS M50 Mark II might also be announced in Q4 2020. Unfortunately, no rumored specifications here but we are pretty sure IBIS will be featured also on the EOS M50 Mark II.

All Canon rumors are listed here. Stay tuned.
