A Canon RF 100mm f/2L IS Macro Lens Might Be In The Pipeline

Canon RF 100mm F/2.8L

A new rumor suggests Canon is set to announce a A Canon RF 100mm f/2L IS Macro lens for the Canon EOS R system.

Apparently the A Canon RF 100mm f/2L IS Macro is already field tested by selected photographers. The lens might get announced within 2020.

No specifications have been leaked so far.

Our take: it’s likely that Canon is set to release also for the EOS R system what is a classic macro lens in their DSLR lineup. It’s just a matter of time.

Stay tuned.

Canon RF 70-135mm f/2L USM Lens For The EOS R System Coming 2020?

Rf 70-135mm

Not the first time an RF 70-135mm f/2L USM lens for the EOS R full frame mirrorless system is mentioned.

Now a new rumor suggests Canon might announce the Canon RF 70-135mm f/2L USM in Q4 2020. Apparently the lens is already tested by a selected group of photographers.

Note that the lens has no image stabilization. And that’s to expect, given that we know for sure that IBIS (In Body Image Stabilization) is featured on the EOS R5 and EOS R6, and likely on every future Canon mirrorless camera.

The next Canon cameras we are expecting are the EOS R5 and EOS R6. However, the global pandemic might affect both release and shipping. The pandemic has already had a strong impact on Canon’s financial results.

Stay safe.

Canon Might Announce A New Cine-Servo Lens On April 20, 2020

Canon CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm

Canon might announce a new Cine-Servo lens soon, likely on April 20, 2020.

Although we have no intel about the focal length of this lens, there are some things we know.

  • 10x zoom
  • 1.5x built-in extender
  • Detachable servo unit
  • Compatible with both Super35 and Full- Frame sensors

We already know that on April 20, 2020, Canon will most likely announce the Canon EOS C300 Mark III and possibly a Cine-Servo lens.

This is what we know about the EOS C300 Mark III:

  • The C300 Mark III will have the same body as the C500 Mark II and use the same accessories
  • Just as the C500 Mk II, it has the same optical axis as the C200 and C700 cameras, so the bridge plates, shoulder mounts, and rod supports are the same
  • 4K super 35 sensor with the capability of recording 4K@120 without crop in Cinema RAW Light format
  • Dual ISO function when recording in XF-AVC
  • Anamorphic de-squeeze function and false-color built in for monitoring (no external monitor needed)
  • New Super35 sensor, developed from scratch
  • 4K up to 120p with Dual Pixel AF, 2K up to 150p
  • EF & PL mount

The EOS R5 will not be announced on April 20, 2020, we expect the EOS R5 announcement before Summer 2020.

Canon EOS M Rumor: Two New Cameras And Some Primes To Be Released In 2020

Canon Eos M Rumor

A Canon EOS M rumor surfaced that’s very similar to a rumor we posted in February 2020.

It’s suggested that Canon might release two new EOS M bodies in 2020. One of these could likely be the Canon EOS M60 (the replacement for the EOS M50, might also be named EOS M50 Mark II). The other one could be the Canon EOS M5 Mark II. We reported back in February that Canon might announce the M5 II in October 2020 and the EOS M60 at the beginning of 2021.

The new Canon EOS M rumor mentions also the possibility that Canon might release two prime lenses for the EOS M system. One of these could be the EF-M 52mm f/2 STM we reported in February 2020. Our rumor mentioned a EF-M 18-45mm f/2-4 IS STM, which is not mentioned in the new rumor.

Upcoming Canon announcements:

We expect Canon to announce a new Cinema camera on April 20, 2020, during a livestreamed conference, most likely the Canon Cinema EOS C300 Mark III. The EOS R5 will not be announced on April 20, 2020, we expect the EOS R5 announcement before Summer 2020.

All Canon rumors are listed here. Stay safe.

A Canon RF 85mm f/2 IS STM Lens Might Be In The Works

Canon RF 85mm F/1.2 DS Review

Is Canon set to release a third 85mm lens for the EOS R system, i.e. a maybe more affordable Canon RF 85mm f/2 IS STM lens?

That’s what a new rumor is suggesting. Canon might announce a Canon RF 85mm f/2 IS STM lens for the Canon EOS R full frame mirrorless system in 2020. If we got it right, this would be a non-L lens, and hence most probably won’t have the high price of the two other 85mm lenses for the EOS R, the RF 85mm f/1.2L and RF 85mm f/1.2L DS “Defocus Smoothing”.

We also have reason to believe that Canon is set to release a bunch of non-L RF prime lenses with f/2-f/2.8 within this year (2020), and these too should have a more affordable price. According to the source, these prime lenses might range from 18mm to 85mm.
