Updated list of unreleased yet registered Canon gear (2 MILCs with different mount?)

Canon Rumors Canon Full Frame Mirrorless

Nokishita posted an updated list of unreleased Canon gear registered at certification authorities.

Among the list below, there are two items that are supposed to be mirrorless cameras. Nokishita speculates that DS126721 and PC2357 might both be mirrorless camera but with different mount types.

  • DS 126721
    • Interchangeable lens camera
    • made in Japan
    • SKU: 3075C003AA, 3075C013AA, 3075C023AA

The big question is: when will Canon announce all this gear? Some stuff will be announced before Photokina 2018. Unfortunately, we still are not sure if Canon will announce anything mirrorless related before Photokina. We got a hint that Canon may stage a mirrorless related announcement on September 4 or 5, but during the last week we also got suggestions it will not happen.

Canon will announce new gear before end of 2018, that’s sure. On top of the probability ranking you’ll find the EOS M5 Mark II, a 32-35mm f/1.4 or f/1.8 lens for the EOS M system, possibly a Canon full frame mirrorless camera (at least one), and maybe some more gear (lenses?). Please note: at the time being it’s not sure if we will see Canon’s full frame mirrorless camera in 2018 or in Q1 2019.

We didn’t get any new intel about the EOS 90D/EOS 80D Mark II or the EOS 7D Mark III. An announcement in 2018 is still in the realm of possibilities but appears to become more unlikely as time goes by.

The Canon rumors mill, especially where related to anything mirrorless  has become a big mess during the last months. Contradicting rumors abound, and a lot of speculations are sold as rumors. All Canon full frame mirrorless rumors are listed here, all general Canon rumors are listed here.

    • Wi-Fi · Bluetooth installed
    • Battery: LP-E6 / LP-E6N (or equivalent)
    • The same radio parts as KissM
  • PC 2352 (most likely a PowerShot camera)
    • Digital camera

    • 2959C005AA
    • 2963C005AA
    • 2972C005AA
    • 3045C005AA

As you can see no specifications so far for the new lenses. However, we are sure among the list is the next Canon prime lens for the EOS M system, a 32-35mm lens with either f/1.8 or f/1.4. Let’s hope it’s the latter. The other lenses in the list may be “L” lenses and a new kit lens.

There is more unannounced Canon gear recently discovered, possibly the EOS 7D Mark III, EOS 80D replacement, and the EOS M5 Mark II we expect to be announced before Photokina 2018.

All Canon rumors are listed here.

A new Canon 50mm lens out in the field, undergoing tests?

Ef 50mm F/1.8 STM Cyber Monday

A new “Canon 50mm” rumor surfaced over the web, saying Canon is actively field-testing a new 50mm lens. No other details are suggested at the time.

Let’s hope we’ll see an updated Canon 50mm lens soon. Besides the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM, Canon hasn’t updated any 50mm lens since a lot of years.

We do not think we’ll see such a lens in 2018.

Stay tuned…

Four unreleased Canon lenses leak through certification authority

Canon EF-M 32mm F/1.4 STM EF-M 22mm Canon Lenses

Nokishita uncovered four yet-to-release Canon lenses.

These lens have SKUs

  • 3045C005AA
  • 2959C005AA
  • 2963C005AA
  • 2972C005AA

At least some of the lenses show up as manufactured in Canon’s Utsunomiya Factory, where all “L” lenses are made. Hence there may be one or more “L” lenses coming any time within the next 3 to 9 months.

Among the bunch we are sure is the 50mm equivalent (32 or 35mm on APS-C) lens for Canon EOS M system we leaked back in 2016 (its development). It’s one of many of our rumors that get regularly hijacked, and then surface somewhere else on the web. We were always told that it would be a 35mm lens, but others talk about 32mm. This lens may have f/1.4 or f/1.8. let’s hope it’s the former. We were also told this lens will be announced ahead of Photokina 2018, which makes even more sense since we now have reasons to think that most likely Canon will announce the EOS M5 Mark II in September 2018. Canon’s full frame mirrorless may take a bit longer.

So what may the other lenses be? Since a few days a replacement for the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II is rumored on some spots on the web. For the time being we can neither confirm nor deny this. The EF 24-70mm f/2.8 II was announced in 2012, so it may be a bit early for a replacement.

So far no hints about the remaining two lenses. hey might be “L” lenses. There are some sugestions that Canon may announced professional lenses for Photokina 2018 but so far it’s only buzz.

Stay tuned.

A press text in Swedish leaked over at Nokishita, we provide a machine translation:

Canon upgrades the L Series’s popular EF 70-200mm lens

Canon upgrades two of its most popular and well-known L series lenses, and is now launching EF 70-200mm f / 4L IS II USM and EF 70-200mm f / 2.8L IS III USM. For many years, both models have been important instruments for professional photographers and photo enthusiasts. The two new lenses can be used for many different objects, from portrait to wildlife, and confirm the main role of the 70-200mm lens in the photographic equipment bag.

Michael Burnhill is a European Product Specialist for Consumer Imaging Group at Canon Europe, commenting on the launch of the two lenses: “Following the feedback from our global network of photographers, we are now proudly launching these two lenses. We always strive to deliver best quality products and performance to today’s visual storytellers. And to have a wide selection to meet the needs of photographers in the best possible way. EF 70-200mm f / 4L IS II USM represents the finest in the L-series optical technology. It has a compact size, is sturdy and lightweight. The EF 70-200mm f / 2.8L IS III USM lens is unbeatable in terms of performance, flexibility and durability. ”

EF 70-200mm f / 4L IS II USM builds on the predecessor’s high standard. There is the superior design, durability and ergonomic design that Canon’s wide lens range is known for. The lens weighs only 780 grams and is perfect for anyone on the move. The fluorine coating stumps away dirt and water drops on the front lens and the Super Spectra antireflex treatment eliminates reflexes and lightslings. The fluorite lenses available in the lens can correct color defects and ensure high resolution and contrast images. The amazing and reliable image quality is invaluable when it comes to reducing the time of post-processing.

The lens aperture f / 4 provides consistent exposure in many varying light conditions.

EF 70-200mm f / 4L IS II USM has a 9-leaf circular aperture that creates an attractive backdrop, makes the background blurred and enhances the subject itself. The new image stabilization device is based on Canon 100-100mm f / 4.5-5.6L IS II USM design. It delivers the equivalent effect as with a 5-step shorter shutter speed, compared to the previous 3-step lens *.

EF 70-200mm f / 4L IS II USM uses a combination of a ring-shaped ultrasonic engine and third generation technology with new high performance CPU and newly developed firmware for faster speed and accuracy and fast auto focus. The focus can also be adjusted manually and allows a 1m close-up to be compared to the predecessor’s 1.2m. All these features make the EF 70-200mm f / 4L IS II USM perfect for discreet and accurate shooting, something that is needed to street photography will be really good.

High Performance, Versatile and Sustainable – EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM

New EF 70-200mm f / 2.8L IS III USM makes the photographers experience even stronger. The lens was designed with high performance and durability in mind and fits photographers who want a high-quality telephoto lens that provides precise details. The lens sealing gaskets make it a sunny choice under challenging conditions. It is protected against moisture and dust and the front and rear lenses are protected by fluorine coatings and are easy to clean. The updates in EF 70-200mm f / 2.8L IS III USM in terms of durability mean that the lens is perfect for high quality travel displays.

The lens opens up a whole world of creative possibilities with its large 8-leaf circular aperture on f / 2.8. Now the photographer can raise sharp objects against silky, blurred backgrounds. With premium fluorite and UD glass, the EF 70-200mm f / 2.8L IS III USM delivers high contrast and excellent resolution. Photographers can feel completely confident in delivering that perfect image. Low light captures are also no problem, thanks to the lens’s maximum maximum aperture f / 2.8, which is constant throughout the zoom range and emits twice as much light as a f / 4 lens.

The 3.5-step image stabilizer compensates for blur caused by motion. An annular USM engine provides quiet auto focus at outstanding speeds, and manual adjustments can be made at any time by a simple twist on the focus ring. All these features make the EF 70-200mm f / 2.8L IS III USM an exceptional lens – for example, to perfectly and quietly capture animals in their natural environment.
