This May Be The Pricing Of The Upcoming New Canon RF Lenses

We expect Canon to announce three new Canon RF lenses for the Canon EOS R system, RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS, RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS, and RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS.

These lenses will most likely be announced along with the Canon EOS 90D and the EOS M6 Mark II. All are expected to be announced on August 28th, 2019. Specifications (90d | M6 Mark II) and promotional videos (90D | M6 Mark II) for both cameras have already leaked.

The suggested prices for the three new RF lenses appear to have leaked in Thailand, and so starting from the price in Thai Baht we can get an idea about where the US$ prices will be.

  • RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS 82,600 THB – $2,499
  • RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS 82,600 THB – $2,499
  • RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS 93,500 THB – $2,799

These lenses have already been announced by Canon, and prototypes have been showcased around the world. For sure these will not be inexpensive lenses.

The same source suggests the RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS and RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS lenses will start shipping in October 2019, the RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens will be available in December 2019.

Last week a rumor surfaced suggesting Canon is working on a f/2 zoom lens for the Canon EOS R system.

A few days later another rumor surfaced suggesting it might be a RF 16-28mm f/2L lens that Canon is working on. This focal length would nicely complement the already released RF 28-70mm f/2L lens.
