Canon EOS M20 to be announced at the end of August, 24MP sensor? [CW3]

eos m20

This is not a new rumor, it surfaced previously. We got a hint that Canon will announce the replacement for the Canon EOS M10 at the end of August 2017.

I can’t rate this more than CW3 for the time being, though the likelihood of an August announcement is high.

The [shoplink 35612]EOS M10[/shoplink] is Canon’s entry-level MILC, it’s safe to assume the EOS M20 will follow in its footsteps. The moniker “EOS M20” was suggested to Canon Watch in June 2017. We also know that a Canon entry-level camera was registered at a certification authority back in May 2017. While there are still some doubts about the name, it’s sure that there will be an EOS M10 replacement.

So what about the specs? None leaked so far. The EOS M20 will not be a powerhouse, but you can assume that some of the features introduced with the [shoplink 40697]EOS M5[/shoplink] and [shoplink 43815]EOS M6[/shoplink] will find there way to Canon’s next entry-level MILC. The only thing I feel I can say is that it will have a 24MP sensor, like all recent Canon DSLRs and MILCs.

If an August announcement is to take seriously, then we will soon see some leaked specs and images.

Stay tuned…

The Canon Rebel T6 will be replaced soon

A Canon DSLR that most likely is the Rebel T7, the replacement for the Canon Rebel T6 (EOS 1300D in EU), has been registered at a certification authority.

The Rebel T7 will have WiFi, and like the DSLR it replaces a fixed LCD display.

So far we have no hints concerning the announcement. However, usually it is a few weeks after such leaks.

Stay tuned!

Canon might announce a high-end mirrorless camera in Q4 2018, or later, rumor suggests

canon eos m5 mark ii

A rumor about a camera Canon might announce at the end of 2018.

It’s becoming a long-running thing this thing about a high end mirrorless camera by Canon. While the latest murmurings do not explicitly mention a full-frame sensor, you can assume it is about a FF mirrorless camera.

Canon Watch was the first site to report Canon’s plans to work on a professional-grade, full-frame mirrorless camera (at the end of 2014). We then had more hints about but nothing that really made me think a full-frame mirrorless camera was around the corner.

It’s hard to classify the latest rumor. You can be pretty sure Canon is working on such a camera, the question is when if at all they will release it. I’ve told that prototypes already exist, and I am sure this is true.

Will Canon’s full-frame mirrorless camera have EF mount? There where some speculations and pertinent rumors. The possibility of EF mount on a FF mirrorless camera isn’t that crazy. A serious, full-frame MILC by Canon with EF mount would be the ultimate killer camera.

A rumor pointing to an announcement that’s over a year away, unfortunately, has to be considered a teaser. Moreover, an announcement set at the end of 2018 might easily become an announcement in 2019. I recommend you stick with your camera for the time being, and enjoy taking pictures. We keep you posted.

Stay tuned…

Canon’s next mirrorless camera is the EOS M20, to be announced in August 2017

eos m20

We knew Canon would release a new entry-level mirrorless camera since registration at a certification authority leaked over the web. And we anticipated it might be named EOS M20.

New rumor has it that Canon will announce the EOS M20 at the end of August 2017.

No specifications so far. Being the replacement for the [shoplink 35612]EOS M10[/shoplink] and an entry-level MILC, it will not be a powerhouse, though some of the tech and features of the [shoplink 40697]EOS M5[/shoplink] and [shoplink 43815]EOS M6[/shoplink] might be on board.

Stay tuned.

No one knows the exact release date for the Canon EOS 90D and 7D Mark III but they try

canon rumors

Pointless rumors surfaced on the web. Announcement dates for the Canon EOS 90D and EOS 7D Mark III are suggested.

The first half of 2018 is when Canon is said to announce the 90D and 7D3.

It’s way too early for a reliable rumor about the announcement for these cameras. Pointing to CP+ for the announcement of at least one of these DSLRs makes sense but still is pure speculation.

We knew the announcement date of the EOS 6D Mark II only a few weeks before it happened, after many supposed announcement dates that all were wrong. The approximately one dozen of wrong announcement dates for the 6D2 all came from the same source that’s now suggesting the dates for the EOS 90D and 7D Mark III.

Enjoy the camera you have and don’t waste time with rumors.

Canon EOS 6D Mark II retail price in Japan leaks, it’s around $2100 converted, available in August 2017

EOS 6D Mark II

Nokishita posted the Canon EOS 6D Mark II price tags for Japan.

  • EOS 6D Mark II body: 243,000 Yen (approx. $2,160)
  • Kit with EF 24 – 105mm F 3.5-5.6 IS STM: 290,520 Yen (approx. $2,590)
  • Kit with EF 24 – 70mm F4 L IS USM: 353,160 Yen ($3,150)

My take: the rumor suggesting a price of $1,999 for the Canon EOS 6D Mark II in the USA is still to consider. Even if the conversion from Yen is around $2,100, it doesn’t mean the price in the USA will the more or less exact conversion from the Yen. A price of $1,999 for the body is still likely.

The availability of the EOS 6D Mark II in August 2017 also seems confirmed once more.
