Nikon set to announce their full frame mirrorless camera within a week?

Nikon Z 6 Mark Iii Full Frame Mirrorless Camera Nikon Rumors

That’s what Nikon Rumors is reporting: Nikon might announce their first full frame mirrorless camera within a week.

They also got some information about pricing in Europe:

  • Nikon 45MP full frame mirrorless camera: €4,000 (around $4,670)
  • Nikon 24MP full frame mirrorless camera: €2,500 (around $2,900)

NR writes:

One possible (rumored) scenario is that 45MP Nikon mirrorless full-frame camera will be announced first (at the end of July) while the second 24MP Nikon mirrorless full-frame camera could be announced at Photokina. The shipping of at least one of the new Nikon mirrorless full-frame cameras is rumored to start at the end of August or in early September.

There is also a set of specifications for Nikon’s upcoming FF MILCs:

  • Two mirrorless cameras: one with 24-25MP and one with 45MP (48MP is also a possibility).
  • Similar body size to the Sony a7 camera but with better ergonomics and a better grip.
  • 5-axis in-body stabilization
  • 9fps
  • New mirrorless mount.
  • The new mirrorless mount will allow for f/0.95 lenses
  • Memory cards: XQD and CF Express
  • EVF resolution: 3.6MP
  • Initially, three lenses will be announced: 24-70mm, 35mm and 50mm (the 35 and 50mm could be f/1.4). There is also talk about a 24mm, but it may come later.
  •  Pricing:
    • The 45MP model will be around $4,000/€4,000 in a kit with the 24-70mm lens.
    • The 25MP model will be under $3,000/€3,000 (also with a lens).
  • The official announcement is rumored for the end of July (on or around July 23rd) and shipping shortly after (August 23rd).

All in all, the rumored specifications describe a very interesting camera. And Canon? For the time being everything surrounding Canon’s full frame mirrorless camera is a big mess.

What do you think? Is it possible that Nikon will announce their FF MILCs within a week?

Lots of Talk, Very Little Solid Information About Canon’s Full Frame Mirrorless Camera

Canon Rumors Canon Full Frame Mirrorless

Recently we’ve learned that six different Canon cameras have leaked through certification authorities (see here and here). The only camera out of the bunch that we’re quite sure is coming this year, is the EOS M5 Mark II ahead of Photokina 2018 in September. Beyond that, everything is currently a bit messy.

Around the web, there are various contradicting reports about Canon’s full frame mirrorless camera, sometimes promoting the idea Canon will release two FF MILCs, sometimes not. Unfortunately, so far, we have been unable to confirm that Canon has two FF MILCs on their agenda. Good sources have said repeatedly to us that there would be just one full frame mirrorless camera to start with.

Now, rumors are rumors, and rarely a rumor has been abused as much as the Canon full frame mirrorless camera rumor. Not having any specifications to discuss, the only thing remaining so far is the announcement date. We all eagerly want to know when Canon will eventually release the FF MILC. Here too there are contradicting information about the announcement. Since registrations at wireless certification authorities happen many months before an actual announcement, it’s possible we have to take in account an announcement in 2019. If true, there is very little chance to get any real specifications in the next months. We will see a lot of guesses and speculations, though. And that besides all the clickbait crap we are unfortunately used to see and read.

Personally, and besides all the hints and rumors we get in our inbox, I’m starting to be more inclined to believe Canon will announce their first full frame mirrorless camera in Q1 2019. On the other hand, there are serious reports stating Nikon might announce their FF MILC very soon. If this is the case, I wonder if Canon will wait much longer to present their’s.

Btw, we can assure with a very high confidence that Canon’s full frame mirrorless camera will not have the same or a similar sensor as the EOS 5D Mark IV. The rumored resolution of 30MP lead some people to push the idea the sensor is closely related to the sensor in the 5D4. Unfortunately, this is a byproduct of the mess surrounding Canon’s full frame mirrorless camera rumor mill environment. Canon might be the most conservative company of the world, but for sure they are not so silly to launch a new product line with an old sensor.

At the end, we can not exclude we’ll have to wait for 2019 in order to see Canon’s full frame mirrorless camera. If so, get ready for a flooding of unreliable information. The most difficult thing for us is to discern the crap from what is true.

Stay tuned.

Canon set to announce the PowerShot SX740 HS soon

Canon Rumors Canon Full Frame Mirrorless

According to always reliable Nokishita, Canon will announce the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS soon.

The Canon PowerSho SX740 HS already leaked through a wireless communication authority, the announcement may come in the next weeks and not later than end of August 2018.

We expect Canon  to announce various new gear ahead of Photokina 2018. Among the new gear we are confident to see the EOS M5 Mark II (if it will have this moniker). Also on the list are new lenses, among them most likely a fast 50mm equivalent prime lens for the EOS M system (32-35mm).

And then there is what I consider the most abused Canon rumor since I started this site: the Canon full frame mirrorless camera all of us are eagerly awaiting. There is a reasonable chance that Canon might announce one of the (supposedly) two full frame mirrorless cameras. Unfortunately, a lot of confusion and misunderstanding has been created around Canon’s full frame mirrorless camera, and speculations go wild.

However, Photokina 2018 is getting closer and is an important stage for Canon to showcase new products. We will soon have more leaks.

More to come…

Nikon discontinued the Nikon 1 mirrorless line-up, getting ready for their FF MILC?

Nikon 1

Nikon Japan officially discontinued the Nikon 1 line-up of mirrorless cameras, a line-up that wasn’t very successful. The timing seems to be on spot for the introduction of the company’s first full frame mirrorless camera.

Rumored specifications for Nikon’s upcoming full frame mirrorless camera have already leaked over the web. Nikon officially stated that they will release a full frame mirrorless camera before Spring 2019.

And Canon? There is a certain likelihood Canon may announce a full frame mirrorless camera ahead of Photokina 2018. So far as good as no specifications have leaked. All Canon full frame mirrorless rumors are listed here.

Stay tuned.

The Canon EOS M5 Mark II will be announced ahead of Photokina 2018

Canon Eos M5 Mark Ii

We got confirmation from a good source that Canon will announce the second iteration of the EOS M5, that’s the Canon EOS M5 Mark II, ahead of Photokina 2018 (which happens in September).

Not really news here, I get it, we told you before. However, it’s always good to have one more suggestion when it comes to rumors. This is not the first hint we got about the EOS M5 Mark II and its announcement.

The Canon EOS M5 Mark II most likely will have a 28MP sensor. Besides this, so far we only know what has to be considered obvious: 4K video, DIGIC 8 CPU etc.

We expect first specification leaks in the next weeks, and first images of the EOS M5 Mark II in August. It’s 10 weeks to Photokina 2o18.

We expect Canon to also announce a new prime lens for the EOS M system.

Off Brand: Picture of upcoming DJI Mavic II drone leaks

DJI Mavic II

DroneDJ leaked the first picture of the highly anticipated DJI Mavic II drone (above).

They write:

Improved form factor – The new DJI Mavic 2 drone is sleeker and more aerodynamic than its predecessor, something we expected all along. At the same time, it is very much recognizable as a DJI Mavic Pro. Same color, same shape and the same folding mechanism it seems. Battery mounted on top and towards the back. Similar to original Mavic and not like the Mavic Air.

What’s in a name – The drone is labeled Mavic 2, which may mean that there still will be a Mavic Pro 2. The bands on the legs of the original Mavic Pro are gold colored. The one shown in the photo is silver, which may mean the advanced (or basic) model if you go by previous DJI drones (Phantom).

Two different sensor sizes – The photo seems to show two different sensor sizes. The one mounted on the drone in grey could be a 1-inch sensor, and the one in black on the table perhaps a 1/1.7 sensor? A big sensor will surely help you to “See the Bigger Picture”.

Gimbal – The photo also seems to show a removable gimbal, a la the GoPro Karma. If you look at the picture closely, it seems that the gimbal might just slide into the drone and thus can be used separately as well. To the left, on the table, you can see the second gimbal with what appears to be a significantly smaller camera/sensor size and a small screen. There is also a lighting connection presumably for charging. The gimbal mounting system seems to be a lot more sturdy and durable than what we currently have in the Mavic Pro.

Motors – The motors seem to be of a larger size than the original Mavic Pro

Propellers – Are not the ‘quiet’ ones we have seen on the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum and Phantom 4 Pro V2.0. Maybe DJI will reserve that option for later in the product lifecycle of the Mavic 2?

360-degree obstacle avoidance – The new Mavic 2 seems to have at least front and side obstacle avoidance cameras/sensors. Very likely it will feature the same at the bottom and at the back of the drone. Not at the top, however.

Foldable legs – We can’t see the rear legs of the drone but the front legs seem to fold sideways like they do on the original Mavic Pro.
