New suggestions surfaced saying that Canon will soon announce a new mirrorless camera.
A few days ago we learned that Canon registered two mirrorless cameras at Russian certification authority Novocert. This usually means we can expect an announcement in the following days.
However, it’s one camera that’s actually rumored, said to be named EOS M5. These are the supposed specs:
24.2mp (80D sensor or some variant)
Built-in electronic viewfinder
A new AF system
A more classical camera design, more in line with Fuji or Olympus
EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM coming alongside the new body
Tamron will announce the replacement for the SP 150-600mm F / 5-6.3 Di VC USD lens in the next days. The replacement will be the SP 150-600mm F / 5-6.3 Di VC USD G2.
Model A022
For Canon, Nikon, Sony
No VC for Sony mount
No specifications nor price hints for the time being. But we have images.
First images of the upcoming Canon XC15 4K camcorder leaked at Digicame-Info. The XC15 is going to replace the XC10. We expect the announcement for Photokina. The lens seems to be the same as the one featured on the XC10.
A possible replacement for the Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS gets another mention. The Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS II is said to be the “first Canon lens with an LCD display built-in” but it is not clear yet “what information will be present on the digital display“. The lens is rumored to feature Nano USM and Canon’s latest image stabilisation technology.
I have to say that this rumor comes a bit as a surprise to me. I (and others) always thought the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS was the replacement for the EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS. It’s true that the former is an “L” lens and the latter is not. However, the non-L EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS has some “L”-lens elements, and hence it sounded plausible to consider the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS as the replacement for the EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS.

Some new tidbits about the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV emerged. Nokishita Camera reports that the EOS 5D Mark IV will be released in Japan on September 8th. This fits with a rumor I got suggesting the EOS 5D Mark IV will start shipping in the US before September 14th.
The EF 24-105mm F4L IS II USM and EF 16-35mm F2.8L III USM lenses are scheduled to be released late October and mid October, respectively.
See here all release dates in Japan:
EOS 5D Mark IV body: September 8
EOS 5D Mark IV EF 24-70mm F4L IS USM kit: September 8
EOS 5D Mark IV EF 24-70mm F2.8L II USM Kit: September 8
EOS 5D Mark IV EF 24-105mm F4L IS II USM kit: late October
EF 24-105mm F4L IS II USM: late October
EF 16-35mm F2.8L III USM: Mid October
EOS 7D Mark II Wi-Fi adapter with lens kit: late September
The EOS 5D Mark IV will start shipping in the mid of September 2016. Launch price should be €3,799 in Europe and $3,499 in the USA.
We know the price for the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM ($1,099) and EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM ($2,199) lenses. The EF 24-105mm will most likely start to ship with the EOS 5D Mark IV (it’s a new kit option), while the EF 16-35mm may be seen a bit later, probably in October.
Canon is set to make a big announcement tomorrow, August 25, 2016. The following gear (and new EOS 7D Mark II kits) will be announced to the world:
