Canon will soon announce a new Camera soon, likely next week.
For the time being we do not know if Canon is going to announce a new PowerShot camera (the PowerShot G7 X Mark III would be a candidate) or a replacement for the EOS M5 or EOS M50. Replacement for the EOS 80D or EOS 7D Mark II are less likely. Don’t expect Canon’s upcoming high resolution EOS R camera until Fall 2019.

An apparently legit Canon document describing a full frame image sensor with a resolution of 63MP leaked over the web.
The 35MM63MXSCD named CMOS sensor has Dual Pixel AF, shoots around 5fps, and is made with a 300nm manufacturing process.
We expect Canon to announce a high resolution EOS R camera in Q4 2019. Could this be the sensor Canon will feature in their upcoming high resolution EOS R camera? Hard to say. It might be but it might also well be one of Canon’s super-specialised image sensors, maybe even a prototype that never went into production.
The sensor in the leaked document seems at first glance to be the sensor rumored for the high res EOS R model, although the latest rumor we got was talking about a 75MP sensor. We tend to believe this sensor has nothing to do with the upcoming high resolution EOS R camera.

A few days after the rumor suggesting future Canon cameras featuring an APS-C sensor will have an “all-new” sensor with 24MP, the same source now reports 32MP might be possible.
We expect Canon to replace the EOS 80D and EOS 7D Mark II, possibly with one new camera for both, and one or two models in the EOS M line-up. All latest Canon APS-C cameras already have a 24MP sensor.
Both 24MP and 32MP appear unrealistic in our opinion (both rumors are rated accordingly). At the end of the day a new APS-C sensor with 28MP seems to be the most likely. Take everything with a grain of salt (so far).

A new rumor from the series of tubes says that the next Canon APS-C cameras will feature an image sensor with the same resolution as currently the latest APS-C Canon cameras have, i.e. 24MP.
The 24MP sensor is said to be “all-new” but there are no specifications so far. The “all-new” sensor is supposed to be featured in the upcoming replacements for the EOS 80D, 7D Mark II, and the EOS M series.
What “all-new” means is unclear. Although we spotted some patents referring to Quad Pixel AF and stacked sensor technology, it’s unlikely Canon will feature it in upcoming cameras.

Nokishita updated the list of yer unreleased Canon gear that already leaked through wireless certification authorities (new gear in Italics).
We are quite confident that PC2358 is the replacement for either the EOS M5 or EOS M6, and PC2367 for either the EOS M100 or EOS M50.

We’re told that the upcoming, high resolution EOS R camera might feature a 75MP sensor.
As we repeatedly wrote, we expect Canon to announce a high resolution EOS R model somewhen in Fall 2019. There have been suggestions Canon might feature IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation) on their high resolution EOS R camera. We take this with a grain of salt, given we are talking about Canon here.
We think it’s unlikely we will see a Canon full frame mirrorless camera with IBIS anytime soon. However, there are patent applications by Canon dealing with IBIS technology, and Canon execs are also slowly starting to admit Canon is working on IBIS.
The high resolution Canon EOS R camera might well replace the EOS 5Ds/5Ds R cameras. In other words: Canon might opt to offer a mirrorless high resolution camera instead of an DSLR.
So far the suggested sensor resolution is all we have (and we do not feel we can give it more than CW3) but there is more to come.
